has anyone seen the new maytags models seem direct drive motors are making a comeback

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Unfortunately, the motor appears to be inverter fed. My guess, by doing so, they can eliminate the reduction gearcase. It is nothing more than another cost cutting measure. This design will probably make its way down the VMW lineup where eventually even the absolute BOL models will have this drive mechanism.

I read the features list....
And one feature stood out, - "Use the Maytag™ app to remotely start or stop your appliance and get end of cycle notifications."

That crap turns me the hell off!
Just some more electronic junk to go wrong with a machine that only needs to wash clothes!
They want everybody in the world to depend on "Apps" to do chores, and depend on using a cellphone to perform everthing imaginable.
I'm waiting for the day that they devise an APP to make you take a dump in case you have constipation.
"Honey!..... where's my cellphone at?.... I need to take a dump!"
Maybe another APP could even help a woman get pregnant.

Thise APPS are not just about convenience! - they're designed to make humans dependent on them, furthering the dumbing down of society.
I don't live my life around APPS, it's not normal for people to live their lives though some cellphone APP, or constantly dependent on some device.

I know how you feel, I feel the same way. Give me an EM timer with 8 single pole double throw contacts and I am happy. Nothing to go wrong, nothing to get hacked into, nothing that gives away personal information, nothing that can be tampered with by a third party.

I never understood how people can opt for apps bombarding them with messages when they turn off most of those APP alerts off in the first place because there are just to many.

All these touch screens and apps are just stupid crap! Especially for somebody's blind like me! I don't have time for this stupid crap! I am livid!

I don't get it either! And I can't stand those stupid touch screens!

This is why I try to tilt new appliances to see what's underneath. I don't trust the advertisements. I don't! I have to investigate everything!

I remember doing that in the early/mid 2000s. Sales people at the big box weren't always happy or understanding about it. I remember them telling us that everything we were looking for underneath they could answer that for us by asking them. So I ask them what motor drives the pump, is the suspension hanging, is the outer tub porcelain on steal... they couldn't answer it. Then proceeded to defend themselves by saying we were asking the wrong questions and that warranty/manufacturer already takes those concerns into account. That rear self leveling legs had nothing to do with the smoothness of spin as one holds up the machine the other "absorbs the shock of acceleration" comparing a spinning load to a car driving on gravel. When asking about the outer tub they keep pointing to the inner basket. I ask them so how does the water not get on the floor then with all those perforations in the wash basket they keep insisting there is only one tub in the whole machine.

I think it speaks volumes to why people buy the way they buy. They are essentially made to feel stupid, shamed, then fed a bunch of lies by someone that has no clue that they have no clue.

Needles to say we walk out. Go to Sears. More knowledgeable staff but keep trying to push TOL. So walk out there as well.

If that motor agitation is ANYthing like my neighbor's Hotpint, a slow sluggish movement, then screw that Maytag crap.

That reminds me. I posted a thread about my Whirlpool/Kenmore dishwasher. That pump is puny and it's just burned out in July! The Whirlpool/Kenmore did! That STUPID Chinese wash pump just died! That wash pump is weak!

Oh, trust me. They wouldn't want me dealing with any of them. The reason why I tilt washers and dishwashers back is to see what's under the hood. Then when you get it home and actually use the matching laundry and dishwasher, your suspicions are founded all along. Take GE laundry and Whirlpool dishwashers for instance.
