Lol this one has been working great after all these years. Honestly if these were still being made today, I'd rather buy one to replace my Kenmore 90 Series instead of fixing it up.

One thing I didn't like was the suspension strap knocking when agitation started. This was back in 2004 when mine started doing that.

That's a mini-size Suzy Homemaker washer. There was also a larger size (more batteries?) on which the four buttons worked for Off/Stop, Wash, Jet Wash, and Spin. Jet Wash had a recirculation function with a little port at the right rear corner that squirted water into the tub. The basket rotated for spin, fast enough that an off-balance situation could make the whole thing wobble.

Lol I couldn't tell a difference. But my Kenmore is WAY too aggressive, I agree with one user who called those machines shredmore. I definitely had things shred on mine before but never on a GE T series. That's one of the reasons why I'm thinking about retiring my machine.

I know the T series wasn’t as tank-like as FilterFlo. But the FilterFlos were probably the worst of the classic washers.

Weird giant rubber boot on the bottom of the tub? Major weak spot.
Giant outer tub and tiny inner tub, making for a huge waste of water.
Granted the mini basket and filter pad were pretty cool. But that’s it!
My one grandma had a FiilterFlo and it’s widely known they had a funky smell. Well that’s what my grandparents whole basement smelled like!
I’d take a model T washer over a FF.
In fact, I had two Model T washers in apartments. They washed fine. Held lots of laundry. And never went off balance. Never broke down. And they were many years old before I had them.
I know the T series wasn’t as tank-like as FilterFlo. But the FilterFlos were probably the worst of the classic washers.

If anybody built the toughest washer in all categories, it was Whirlpool with their design 2000 platform. No wonder why they were the ultimate precision machine unlike GE.
I completely agree. GE couldn't last in a laundromat or dorm setting. There's just no way. GE clearly lied. I wish cadman had the video of the GE washer demo from 1995.
There is not way that washer can outperform a direct drive.
Are you sure? What about the agitation that tried to rival Maytag and Whirlpool? I sure miss the normal speed startup agitation on 2-speed models.

Highly unlikely. Suzy Homemaker toys were introduced in 1966, LONG before Whirlpool's VMW (or direct-drive) and GE's Hydrowave.
I think of many worse classic washers- most of the very first automatics, WCI Frigidaire, Franklin Frigidaire, the rollermatic, Montgomery Ward, Norge, Hotpoint, Blackstone, Apex ect. Even the Unitmatic as great as they were tangled sheets.
The filter flo not only out-cleaned many of these washers while solving their flaws, the latter filter flos also lasted being true workhorse machines.
If anything the filter flos are number 5th inline being next to the Whirlpool direct drive, Original Whirlpool belt drive, Maytag dependable and two belt Raytheons. Most every other washer like the Frigidaire Galleries, Maytag Performas, Atlantis, ect follow behind the filter flos in over all value.
If I had to choose between any model T and a single speed filter flo I hands down take the filter flo. It is gentler, cleans better, rinses better, easier to repair and above all lasts many years.
The funky smell you speak of is a person who is not using their washer correctly. Its funny, because when front load washers mold, smell or stink AW.org blames the user, but when a filter flo gets funky GE's design gets the blame.
Never once had anything get shredded in my long stroke Maytag 806 and Whirlpool Imperial Mark 18 belt drive washer with it’s 145 degree arc.
If any design should be blamed, it's the model T with the reinforcements in the tub. And don't even get me started about the stupid shaking cabinet and muffled banging underwater during agitation. It especially happened with dual action gentle power agitator models on super water level with full loads on normal/fast.

Lol if those FF machines were truly built to last, then mine would still be alive at the cabin but it's not there anymore. The GE at the other cabin I showed earlier I'm sure has now outlasted the FF.

Yes, outliers do occur. However when you look at the millions of machines out there from the mid 70s to the late 80s they tended to last.
Those re-reinforcements are disgusting. They trap lint, water, film and gunk quietly becoming a science experiment in biological research. I bet they also increased water friction when spin-draining something the model T could not do.
Funny. this was supposed to be about commercials, not a constant rant about which GE Whirlpool or whatever bangs tubs the most, come on guys this enough, start your own thread about it.
This is my thread, I was the one who started it. The tub banging comes from the 4 point hanging suspension system which is not new but a concept from at least the 60s that started in compact low cost light weight washing machines.
The commercial claims it is new, when in fact there is nothing truly novel about the Model T.

I've known plenty of people with filter flos, and they do not get funky with proper washing habits. On the other hand the things I've seen with model Ts out in the scrap pile. It looked like the honeycomb side of the wash basket had been rolling around in wet fertilizer of a specific kind.
I will add. There’s nothing inherently wrong with a suspension rod system. The belt drive was rod suspended. The problem is none of these modern machines are dampened like older ones. So the tubs go out of control a little easier. When designed right, suspension rods will transmit a lot less vibration to the cabinet and the floor.
Modern Speed Queens transmits the least vibration and do not go out of control.
I agree the lack of dampening is a major part of the problem, however, manufacturers seem have put cost cutting above all else. An engineering philosophy that these older designs did not suffer from. Model T essentially with the litmus test proving that the market was willing to accept these self destructing designs.
