Something needs to be done about accountability.
Every model since the filter flo is exceptionally worse during an imbalance. Model T will literally self destruct. Even they survive, the tub straps often don't causing the tub to keep hitting the cabinet every cycle there after.
Only thing that will bring about change is customers buying only simple, stout appliances at every purchase.
There was once a point where Speed Queen began to surge in sales relative to what they normally sell every year and Whirlpool and GE clapped back with a "commercial" platform.
If Speed Queen had kept growing in sales, you can bet DDs would have eventually come back.
If everyone were like me not a single machine with a lid lock, hanging suspension, or electronic control would ever be purchased. Then the big players would have a problem on their hands that they would have to resolve. What I'd give to see into these companies panicking behind the senses to bring back the direct drive, dependable care and filter flo tooling. They'll try look alikes at first I'm sure thinking its only about appearance or some perceived function, but, someone would buy one, take it appart, post it on Youtube and everyone would just laugh. Eventually it would hit the major players that the only way to stay in business would be to bring back vintage machines in a serious, carbon copy.

That's easy to say....
However, considering the Dumbing Down Of Society, the lack of education, and the distractions/addictions involved, that would take a Holy Rapture to make any changes.
Sadly, I have to agree with you.
I bet GE no longer even has the original master prints or specs of the Filter Flo on record.
What I would give for that rapture. One where GE is literally buying filter flos of Craigs list to dismantle and scan each part for the purposes of making millions of dollars worth of tooling and assmebly lines.
