Westinghouse I have that washer also.Mine needs the boot as well.I have never gotten into it.

Spanner Nut Heat the nut with a torch being careful not to damage the agitator shaft seal.Melt the nut if necessary and chip it off it is a soft metel.

outer tub I use clear silicone to seal those tubs and it lasts forever. I have rebuilt dozens of machines like yours.I have a 68 800 pair.

Bendix They told me its sold.

Bendix I have wanted one of these since I saw one on Dennis The Menace.My grandmother had one but I never saw it.This one appears to have the soaplid intact.I have three of these machines but they are sad.It is not clear to me to this day what holds the soaplid in place.

Tightness It is misaligned.Turn the bolts back nine turns and see if that cures it then retighten a turn at a time each

Knocking The transmission is no good.I have seen this many times.
