Vintage Bendix Automatic Washer

My siblings and I had a babysitter that had a Bendix just like this one. I can still see the crust of blue Cheer detergent around the black bakelite door in top where she poured in the Cheer free hand. I loved to watch the washing machine in action.

I have wanted one of these since I saw one on Dennis The Menace.My grandmother had one but I never saw it.This one appears to have the soaplid intact.I have three of these machines but they are sad.It is not clear to me to this day what holds the soaplid in place.

IIRC winning bid was only one dollar....
I'd absolutely love to have one of those.
The thing is, I no longer have the patience to restore machines.
Probably my next vintage will have to come fully restored.
My SQ ultra mate is waiting for a new transmission for maybe 4 years? 5? Belt drive kenmore is there, waiting... covered in dust...
Calypso is also waiting.... donor machine is at revvinkevin's house. Actually I didn't even bother to take it apart to discover what happened to it (drum is loose)
I think I'm getting old.

Is usually the cast aluminum hub it corrodes and brakes sort of like a spider on a front load washer.
The tub assembly has a lifetime warranty. If it’s a whirlpool model, it had a 10 year parts warranty if it’s a Kenmore model.
You might also need to replace the U joint assembly and various other parts while you’re doing this repair.

Kevin has a donor Calypso that has a fried pcb, but everything else seems to be OK.
I'll probably just replace everything.
Btw, the Ultra mate is here... dryer works great, washer is leaking grease.
