Copying
I mean, at the end of the day, isn’t everyone just copying Miele? They patented the original concept of a third rack, and now that patent has expired.
Thanks for the info! That’s super disappointing. My laundry room is in the exact center of my single-level house, so I was hoping it was barely audible.
“ The very beginnings of GE's fall was probably when Jack Welch became CEO in 1981.”
With the possible exception of their jet engine business, this pretty much sums up where GE (insert business line here) started to go wrong.
How loud is the venting cycle? Is it audible a few feet away? I’ve always been curious about this venting system (and now Whirlpool has come out with a competing implementation), but no one ever mentions if they’re noisy or not.
Speed Queen has mostly been content to make minor tweaks to their lineup these past couple years. The big introduction last year was…a black TC5. The exact same machine, but black.
I expect a similarly muted 2025. Maybe they’ll add a glass top option to their top loaders or something like that.
34 1/2” deep
Interesting, but too deep for my laundry room. Maybe Samsung will make a more shallow version in the future (who am I kidding, of course they won’t).
Kenmore
I know Kenmore still technically exists, but it’s a shadow of itself. It would be wonderful to have Kenmore back using high quality OEMs and just generally great products. Kenmore direct drive washers, anyone? Now that Sears is essentially dead it’s just a pipe dream and Kenmore will...

Slightly smaller capacity (but same external dimensions), and a few less features than the original model. Clearly the original...
At the very least, there will still be some conventional electric ranges available to landlords who don’t want to have to deal with the (real or imagined) hassle of dealing with tenant service calls that turn out to be related to pots and pans.
Quite specific to my house, but I would never own a gas dryer because of the bad venting situation I have. My laundry room is in the worst possible location: the exact center of the house. So the dryer vent has to snake its way down through the crawlspace and underneath the kitchen to reach the...

Hmm, that’s fascinating. It’s actually in that Goldilocks size- 3.1 cu ft and 29” deep. Reviews don’t seem great though, but I don’t want to place too much emphasis on those.
That Appliance Insider guy has no credibility. He claimed Speed Queen was going to open a factory in Texas and start selling larger capacity top loaders this year. Obviously this hasn’t happened.
Speed Queen’s front loader is also really inefficient with its use of space. The body is only 27” deep, which is great…but the door protrudes out significantly (even while closed), and along with the drain hose the real depth is 31 3/8”. There’s just nothing between compact (by American...
