    Obscene Consumption

Who could possibly need a light fixture costing $800,000? The tacky kind of person who desperately needs to impress by casually letting it drop that it cost thast much.

Lincoln and Buick update - off topic

The "chrome mandate" I think it was in 1958 that GM head of design, Herley Earl dictated that every full-sized GM model "must have" a "minimum" of 58 pounds of chrome on it. How they measured that 58 pounds, I don't know - given the cars, ya' think a measurment in acreage would've been simpler.

Appliance Colours You Wish Would Come Back, And Those You Hope Never Do.

a "new" metallic finish/color I see the Jenn-Air line has now brought out "bronze." Since an awful lot of the supposedly "stainless steel" finishes are really jusat polished-then-brushed, inexpensive sheet metal with a clear plastic film atop to simulate stainless's soft, smooth hand, I'd bet...

Wash Time Kenmore vs. Whirlpool vs. Maytag

fluid wash times- HE3T I have an HE3T. As that's the first generation of the various Duet clones, the software may have since changed or been updated. On mine, the time is an approximation, as the machine will toss the load, then attempt a short spin in an attempt to balance it, pre-spin. Given...

    demo codes for the HE3T

Does anyone (possibly a former Sears Salesperson) know the key sequence that runs the HE3T washer's demo cycle? I saw this at the store - a series of strokes on the cycle buttons, in a specific order, commands the machine to run a demo spin, so you can see just how ridiculously fast it is...

    A cup of......'Joe'??????

CoffeeMasters anyone? Hi All: I'm semi-new to the group with the following question: Does anyone know how to update/replace the heating element on a Sunbeam Coffeemaster? I've got both a model C-30 and the later C-50 models. Love the coffee they make right off the bat, but neither pot's got...

    Water in the Window

Not to inflame Kelly, but... We have a Kenmore Elite E3 and I have to say we love the damned thing. We bought it at the dreaded Sears due in part to their zero percent financing thing. Yes, it was hugely over-priced at $1,500 (including the stand - which I would not do without), but having been...
