My parents had that very Proctor-Silex from 1971. It was incredibly noisy percolating...I remember waking up in the AM to that thing going "wham, wham, wham".
Your collection of Proctor Silex coffee makers is amazing. I always wondered why they had the two lights on during the brewing cycle and only one when it was done? I would of course rather have the two on for the longer time.LOL Terry

I almost forgot that I had a percolator too. Here's a picture of it. There is some nasty glue on it of a sticker.

No flattery here. Especially that lighted Proctor Silex is very cool! I'm indeed enjoying the threads about percolators very much. I went back to the thriftstore to have a look at the Corning Ware percolator again. It doesn't have a lid so I decided not to get it. I have enough appliances with missing parts. LOL

Louis what is the brand-name of your Euoro *Presto* percolator? Can't really see it in the pic.
Is coffee in Holland the way we have it here or more of a Turkish-style demi-tasse normally?

Steve, the brand is Daalderop. Overhere the majority of coffee makers is a drip system with a cone shaped filter. Second is the coffee pod system. It has become very popular overhere. Mainly because Philips invented this system together with Douwe Egberts. Third in popularity are probably the espresso machines.
I need to know for when I come visit you.
Of course I may have to stop in on a few in the UK and one in Italy and on in particular in Germany.

BTW, what we call French coffee is made in a coffeemaker like this.
And twenty years ago these espresso makers were very popular. Until aluminum was under the suspicion of causing Alzheimer.
We still dont like to think abuut aluminum and its effects here. Blissfully ignored.

CoffeeMasters anyone?
Hi All:
I'm semi-new to the group with the following question:
Does anyone know how to update/replace the heating element on a Sunbeam Coffeemaster? I've got both a model C-30 and the later C-50 models. Love the coffee they make right off the bat, but neither pot's got the ability to keep the finished coffee really warm enough to serve. Both do the requiste switch to "Low" thing, but "Low" is too low a heat to keep anything at a decent drinking temperature. Coffee just gets cool. I'm pretty sure the heating element is working (not completely dead) as the pot is "warm" just not warm enough. Is this just a factor of Sunbeams? My Coffeemaster percolator suffers from the same malaise.
Thoughts or suggestions?

Probably a bad connection between the LOW setting and the resistor or the element. Check the contacts between the LOW and the element. It could be dirty. clean with contact cleaner.
