    AEG Heater failure

That's awful for such a short life of the heater! I have the John Lewis branded equivalent of your machine, but the washer-dryer version. I imagine it has the same, or very similar heater in it (ours has the steam cycle too, which we actually do use 3-4 times per week as it's excellent at...

    John Lewis JLWD1612 washer dryer

Well the JLWD1612 arrived today! Plumbed in, initial maintenance wash done. I can report that this machine does NOT have the jet system fitted. On the maintenance wash (cottons 95 degrees) the machine did not spin after the main wash, and did just 2 rinses with a fast spin in between...

    John Lewis JLWD1612 washer dryer

Hi Liamy1 Thanks for your thoughts. I'm not too bothered by the long wash times - the AEGs are very similar if not the same as the JL machines, so I'm used to it. The 'quick' option that can be applied to all the normal cycles works very well for lightly soiled laundry and knocks a significant...

    John Lewis JLWD1612 washer dryer

Hi all, So after 4 years of frustration at poorly rinsed clothes in our AEG L14850 washer dryer, we are upgrading to a John Lewis JLWD1612. This also has the steam refresh/anti crease on it, a larger drum, and a fluff clean cycle. It's arriving next Thursday! This is obviously a re-badged AEG...

What is the best washer you have had?

Zanussi WJD1665w washer dryer for me. Great at washing, rinsing and drying and had the famous spin rinses. And was quiet too.

    Rattly spin UK AEG washer/dryer

Rinsing Thanks Dan - good to know it's not just our machine then! It makes me wonder what on earth AEG/Electrolux's programmers were thinking when they programmed it like that - especially as on other cycles, once the spin has finished, the pump comes back on and runs for a good few seconds...

    Rattly spin UK AEG washer/dryer

Dan, Thanks - would be interested to know! Cottons cycles are definitely better with rinsing (more spins between rinses), although we struggle with towels. Using even the tiniest amount of detergent still results in a soapy last rinse water. We do have soft water in Crawley so I suspect that...

    Rattly spin UK AEG washer/dryer

Thanks for all the responses guys, most helpful! I've just discovered that our machine is still under a John Lewis extended warranty - I'd forgotten that AEG refused to honour the 5 year warranty that was advertised with this machine, but as we bought it with that advertised, John Lewis gave us...

    Rattly spin UK AEG washer/dryer

Hi All, I have an interesting (and annoying!) problem that I though I'd post here to see if anyone has any ideas. As some will know I have an AEG L14850 washer/dryer, which is now about 4 years old, and gets moderate use (2 of us in the household). It's started making a very loud...

    UK Hotpoint 'Next Generation' Series

Our Hotpoint 9530 Hi Paul (and all) Great and very interesting thread. Certainly filled in a few 'blanks' of info for me. I was sorting out some old photos today and came across this one from mid-1987, which is the Hotpoint 9530 Electronic 1000 Plus in almond, in our kitchen, that I grew up...

    The New Zanuzzi Lindo100

Although it was a few years ago now, I had 3 brand new Zanussi machines that did exactly what yours is doing (they had the brushed motor). I told the supplier (electricity board shop) that I wouldn't chance having a 4th and bought a Siemens machine instead - bad mistake but that's another story...

how good or bad is your washer ?

AEG AEG L14850 washer dryer here. Good points: - exceptionally quiet washing - not too noisy spinning - build quality generally seems ok - spin balancing is fairly good Bad points: - exceptionally poor rinsing caused by bad programming (see below) - machine vibrates and moves to the right...

    Zanussi

That's the one! My aunt also had the slightly newer grey control panel dishwasher - not sure of the model, but it was the TOL (or near TOL) one for it's day with about 5 push buttons, and the grey-style control knob. That lasted slightly less time, but was from about 1985-2005 before it gave up...

Hotpoint 9534 Finished and back together.

Nice example! We had one of these - bought new in 1987 from Rumbellows, just before the "hurricane". I came across a photo of it in our kitchen recently from about 1988. It was pretty unreliable - the pressure tube to detect the water level was forever getting blocked so the machine would fill...

Hotpoint / Zanussi Liberator Model 1826 Pictures

We had the Electra GL2 when I was growing up. The big button in the middle, as Peter said earlier in the thread, had a pic of a stained shirt on it, and made the tumbles on the synthetics cycle longer (had no effect on the cottons cycles). See this thread for full info...
