My 2 pennies worth...

I'm not sure about the option buttons really. But as far as i'm aware they have nothing to do with the colours corresponding on the programme díal. I actually read that If you press both Half load and Economy in it will do a very Quick wash. About 10 tumbles and then advance onto cooldown in which it will then do 2 2 RINSES. Not 3 as some people have been suggesting lol. As far ás I'm aware the 9534 NEVER had the later drum/bowl on. These are replacements. Anyone suggesting they are original obviously don't know the facts. Trust me, I know!!

Half Load & Eco Wash

I was going to say hotpointfan95 using Half Load & Eco wash have a very quick wash - however, not pressing half load, you will get deeper water level, and still a very quick wash because eco wash is still selected. So Phill is technically right as that's what the manual says, however he is also wrong, as quick wash also activates with only eco wash - eco wash is no Heat, so the heat stage is voided, this means it is a quickwash, as there is only 1 stage of wash after heating, well not heating, just one stage of wash.
Technically there are 3 rinses, because the stage after the Cooldown, although very quick is a rinse i personally think, otherwise it would still be filling & draining. (also read point 4 on page 13 of Phill's Instructions)

On the 95's when the machine clicks to do the cooldown it will drain/fill for a while bringing the temp down from 50/60c (depending on what version 95 you have) and once it's reached a cooler temputure it will advance again and fill higher to finish the cooldown phase. THEN it goes onto 2 rinses!!

Also with the Quick Wash, it clearly states that Half Load and Economy have to be pressed in for the Quick Wash. This is because the Quick Wash is only designed for a smaller load.

Regarding the drum/door bowl, they ARE NOT original. The later versions with the recessed door had them.

Quick Wash and Drum

We need to bear in mind that the "Quick Wash" (which first appeared on the 9534 range) was not a programme so to speak.

It is merely no.6 with economy wash selected, if the incoming water already fills at 40c (as ours does when we have it plumbed in) the machine won't heat on 6 (or 5) anyway, so quick wash will be the same as 6, with or without economy pressed. Half load reduces the water level, but does not affect the length of the programme (which runs at about 30mins), so it is possible to use this programme with or without half load without affecting the wash time.

Our 9530 and the 9517 we have now sold do 3 rinses on all synthetics programmes regardless of whether half load is pressed, the machine fills and drains several times for the cool down, then advances straight into the first rinse, before draining completely and carrying out 2 further rinses. This occurs at any temperature on these programmes.

As Darren (aitcho86) noted above, he grew up with a 9534 from new which had this drum and door glass originally, so these machines most definitely were sold with this drum and glass in the later production run. Although it is possible that in this machine these have been replaced, it is highly likely they are original to this machine.

im currently carrying out yet another repair to the hotpoint as the armature in the motor has worn out causing it it to lose most of its power when spinning, usually meaning the 1000rpm spin cycle is carried out at slow bosch speed.

Nice example! We had one of these - bought new in 1987 from Rumbellows, just before the "hurricane". I came across a photo of it in our kitchen recently from about 1988.

It was pretty unreliable - the pressure tube to detect the water level was forever getting blocked so the machine would fill until water poured out the soap dispenser drawer. Then when it drained, it took so long for the water to drain that it would start spinning with the drum still 1/3 full. Was it just our machine that did that or was it a design fault?! I can remember it being repaired (cleaned out) about 3-4 times a year.

An unbalanced spin would make the machine lunge forward, and it would regularly suds lock especially with towels in.

After about 7-8 years my mum got fed up with it keep overflowing, so it was replaced with a Zanussi, and then 2 weeks later another Zanussi, and then 2 weeks later a Siemens after both Zanussis failed with the same fault!
