    1974 Lady Kenmore Selective Dialing

Interesting that it calls for hot or warm wash for cottons, and nowadays cottons all seem to be cold-wash only.

    Vintage Appliance Advertisements: Part Twenty-eight

Reply #79 Crosley I was going back thru these and realized I had missed something odd before. One, I'm surprised anyone was still selling consumer electronics in 1942 due to wartime restrictions. And two, their ad makes it seem as if nothing unusual is going on in the world, LOL! No mention of...

#52 Escalloped apples Okay, why the heck do these not exist anymore, LOL!

MS Is Killing Off Mail & Calendar - It's Redesigned Outlook Or Nothing

I find that if I delete Outlook from my computer I can still use Calendar. However, it keeps downloading to my computer every day, so I have to delete it every day. I'm using Windows 10. Does anyone know of a fix for blocking Outlook from downloading to Windows 10?

Your Experience with Electric, Invisible/Hidden Fences.

Work on cats? Have any of y'all tried using these on cats? I'm always seeing tons of cats popping up in the local Missing Pets Facebook page. Wonder if this would keep them from running away.

    Modern Living: Part Fourteen

electric chafing dish #86 mentions "electric chafing dishes" in the ad. Did they mean electric mixers like the KitchenAid? Never heard that term before.

    Vintage Appliance Advertisements: Part Twenty-seven

Washer/Dryer Combo Demise I think I just realized what killed the combo machines. They are not twice as fast as the ads would claim, but probably twice as slow. With separate machines, you can have a second load of laundry washing while the first is drying, which for obvious reasons you cant...

#87 "Asbestos-insulated Chef's Mitt, $1 value" Wonder how many of those are still around.

The Vintage Laundry Room: Part One

That GE combination sink/washing machine must be a rare bird. I know GE did a lot of electric sink/kitchenette designs but this is a new one for me.

    POD 3/16/2023

OK, I'm stumped by this one. A Frigidaire with a control panel that looks like a Whirlpool, and the "GMH value-priced at 189 gns.". A foreign ad maybe, but references US testing and uses the US dating format of May 17, 1961 vs 17 May 1961? And no extra U's thrown in there, as in colour. Anyone...

Here we go again, the mantra of washing laundry in cold water

Looking at today's POD (10/11) for the Maytag A902 it's interesting that only Bright Colors called for a cold wash in the washing instructions. I'm not sure how "bright" my gray t-shirts are but they all call for cold-wash only. Also boxers call for cold wash and briefs call for warm wash...

    GE Undersink Dishwasher

I wonder if some of the old-timers at GE back in the day remembered their electric sink designs from the '20s and 30s and thought this would be a good idea to try again.

    Skinny Mini!

Target market? It's strange that they built this machine so cheaply, as I think their intended market was people with a fair amount of disposable income, not people who couldn't afford anything better. The ones I've seen pictures of in the wild were usually aboard a large boat like a...

    POD 8/13/2022

Gotta love how the guy hawking the Easy Combo machine has a cigarette predominantly displayed in his hand. It's like the advertisers back in the day felt people wouldn't trust their ads unless somebody was smoking something. About the only guy who could get away with that today is John Daly...
