In need of advice for upcoming renovation febuary or march 2026 including moving washer dryer from second floor to basement

So the rest of us outside North America are so backwards that we don’t have comfort, peace or performance? What a bizarre thing to infer.

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

I don’t believe I did disregard your point - at the end of the day if there are useful programmes, which some might find useful even if you don’t, why not offer the additional flexibility? And why not offer access to further programmes on an app? You or I may not use some of the additional...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

My question is, if I (and others) find something useful, then why does it upset others so much who don’t find it useful? I don’t think the app is a necessity (which I mentioned), but I find the features useful. Of course you can just use the machine on the panel and disable the wifi, nobody is...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

Don, That’s completely fine if you don’t feel you benefit from it, my point from my tongue in cheek post (sorry if it didn’t come out that way) was that it’s useful to me and many others who use it. And nobody is forcing a gun to anybody’s head to use wifi on appliances, you’re free to use it...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

A lot of our dishwashers are freestanding and slotted into a gap underneath the kitchen counter, as you would a fridge or washing machine here. Integrated dishwashers are common too, though. I’d probably say the ratio of freestanding to integrated dishwashers is 50:50.

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

“Stupid” wifi on my appliances ping me notifications when they are done, particularly useful with the dryer as that is outside the main house. “Stupid” wifi allows me to easily delay the start of the washer or dishwasher to start at a specific time, which is especially useful to coincide with...

    Bosch or Miele dishwasher

Yes, you’re exactly right and that’s why I’m not sure if I’ll use it too often, as the Auto cycle will deal with the same soiling and use slightly less, although obviously will have a longer run time. I think what it might be really useful for, especially with the 3l fills even on the rinses...

    Bosch or Miele dishwasher

Just unloaded this morning and the ComfortWash+ cycle has cleaned everything - macaroni cheese was burnt on (actually burnt on twice as I reheated leftovers for lunch) to the stoneware Le Creuset dish and has been removed completely. Remainder of the load was just light to average soiled midweek...

    Bosch or Miele dishwasher

Curiosity got the better of me and I used ComfortWash+ tonight; prewash, 55°C wash, 70°C final rinse with extra dry, all in 2:15. Included in the load was an oven dish with macaroni cheese burnt on. Will see how it’s done when I unload tomorrow morning.

Maybe it’s because I’m of a younger(ish) generation, but I couldn’t be without Apple CarPlay or the reversing cameras and sensors. I will admit though it’s a shock when I reverse a car without one and I have to actually look where I’m going 😂.

    Bosch or Miele dishwasher

Personally I think at £999 the G7865 is a steal for what it is, and if your family isn’t great at dishwasher Tetris (same as mine) then the Miele is probably more forgiving. Even my partner can load the Miele without major difficulty, it’s the first one we’ve had where he doesn’t complain 😂...

It is - 2 litres TDi, averages 60-70mpg on a motorway run (and we aren’t light footed). We had a petrol Audi before the Merc and that was almost as economical too, but not quite. We’ve also just got rid of a 2006 1.9TDi Golf, engine still running perfectly at 170k miles but unfortunately...

    car feature subscriptions...

Generally Audi/VW seem to be very reliable over here, we’ve never had much trouble with several Audis/VWs over the years. Mercedes less so, which is why we got rid. Never had trouble with fixing VAG cars over the years, but then again they are more mainstream here, most garages will fix them...
