Thanks for the response -I'm not enthusiastic about going out and spending good money on a new machine that will probably be about as lousy as the one we're getting rid of! I'm researching some used appliance places in the area -

We have a approx. 5 year old Maytag Ensignia washer. I've never really liked it -doesn't get rid of lint & animal hair and occasionally smells. It recently stopped spinning -made a screeky noise-and clothes are left wet. The technician says it needs a new transmission ($500) . . . Any advice? I...
