    Cant tell for sure. But based on the three things indicated. It sounds like the transmission is toast.

    Clockwise. Didnt try to turn counter-clockwise. But why does it get stuck in the same place? and cant move it any further by hand?

    Thanks Kevin: Yes I have the front panel off so I can see what is going on. When I start it, the water goes in, and the motor comes on but the tub doesnt agitate. I stop it since I dont want it to burn the belt. The spinner (again I dont know what that is called other than it is the big weighty...

    I have a maytag A482. Problem is washer is not agitating or spinning. Replaced belts, motor is new, carriage is OK. On closer inspection, I cannot turn the spinner (big weighty thing underneath the drum) by hand past a certain point. So if I cant turn it by hand how can the belt? What is the...
