Current Maytag MVWP586GW. Anyone bought one recently ?

Startup state issue I have a MVWP586GW. The biggest issue I have with it, which others online have seen as well, is what I'd call a "startup state issue". If you press the switch to turn it on then, seemingly, press it again too quickly, all lights go off, it sits for a bit, then starts a...

    That's a wrap!

If they (or someone else) used an automotive wrap those can be "self healing" of scratches with a little application of heat. That would also open up a world of color and finish (gloss, matte, etc.) possibilities.

    New Washer Day this Thursday!

William8 it was $1549 for the pair but again, it was Memorial Day, and it looks like they are up a bit right now from that price. You got a great deal on the TC5 - they were running about $1320+ around here at the time I bought my Maytag set. I hope yours serves you well for a long time!

    New Washer Day this Thursday!

For those dumping on my choice of Maytag vs. a SQ TC5 for some reason, I'd point out the following:

This Maytag and that SQ have basically the same warranty, 5y in-home for everything

I prefer the spiral...

    New Washer Day this Thursday!

Mixed vs. Power Wash GELaundry4ever, the PowerWash cycle seems to really work the agitator very aggressively, in what sounds like several different patterns, and at a pretty good speed for each one. Mixed, on the other hand, seems to use it more slowly so it's not driving the clothes onto the...

    New Washer Day this Thursday!

Holy subject drift! ...anyway, they've arrived, and here are the before, during, and after photos! (Note: the laundry room walls are more light green than the photos seem to indicate?) A couple of observations so far:

Being able to select your own...

    New Washer Day this Thursday!

The only smelly machine I've ever had was the Neptune, and that was a combination of iffy design choices and lack of knowledge about FLs which lead to a long-running mold issue. For me the attention to cleaning comes down to the facts that I rarely wash anything with chlorine bleach (just...

    New Washer Day this Thursday!

After 5 1/2 years of pretty reliable service, our ca. 2018 GE FL set has finally reached the end of its out-of-warranty road. The washer in particular is making the very loud creaking / groaning / howling "bearing failure" sound whenever it tumbles and spins, occasionally just gives up on...

    Prewash-less Dishwashers

Our Bosch does a pre-wash on all cycles except Express I believe, which is a one-hour "just get started" kind of program. I typically only use that if I'm washing a small number of lightly soiled things and/or something very bulky like a glass/ceramic cake dome combo, where I have to remove the...

I Removed Sharpie Ink From a Shirt

The best pre-spotter I've used recently is Zout (not to be confused with Shout), in a bright red spray bottle. I prefer the liquid spray not the foam kind FWIW. It's almost never let me down getting out stains the first time, even oily ones, and even does a pretty good job on things that were...

    Cold water washing has arrived

Yeah, at least knowledge is power here. Honestly, though, with both boys now off in college, and only one home for the summer, the overall Cleaning Power Required (so to speak) is generally a lot lower than when they were both here, a lot younger, and we were all camping at least once a month.

    Cold water washing has arrived

For reference, I just found the service manual for my washer - GFW450SSM1WW, and it states the following about temps: * Cold can be tempered by cycling of hot water valve to achieve target temperature of 70°F (21°C). * Warm can be tempered by cycling of hot and cold valves to achieve target...

    Cold water washing has arrived

Remarkably, I ordered a box of Tide Professional AND THEN found this thread. It's always nice when the Internets are all thinking the same thing, about the same time. Rookie question with this: Is there any harm in washing on warm? That is, will I be deactivating or not-optimally-activating...

    What foods do you DESPISE!

Can't stand raw tomatoes (love all forms cooked / processed however), cucumbers (any form), boiled okra (fried to death or in gumbo is fine), hominy, frog legs, raw oysters (both textures bug me). That's really about it. There are some other things like buttermilk that I wouldn't drink on a...
