Wow! Ridiculous indeed! I think I may have fixed it. I had to do some bushing work to it and reattach the gear shaft to the motor drive gear so it'd stop slipping. Seems to work now! Thanks for everyone's help!
The timer on my Maytag ADE309 dryer bit the dust. It's got bits rattling around in it and it spins freely. I'm not finding a number that correlates to a part number.

Thank you for the info! I had suspected overfilling so I did open the top up and clean out the drain holes. They were indeed plugged. What would cause overfilling? The settings to control the fill seem to be working fine.
Okay, I've nearly got this machine mechanically 'flaw free' save for an irritating leak I can't track down. I think it's from this seam at the top of the tub. I've ruled out the hoses and valves. Is this a replaceable seal?
So I love filter flo machines but just can't find one around here so I bought avocado Maytag set. Wouldn't you know that a filter flo pops up on marketplace now! They want to sell a dryer to but offered to sell just the washer for 170. Is that just to high?
