Things that stink up your house while cooking...

The worst smell My husband was trying to heat up the honey to get it liquid again. He was heating it in a pan of water on the stove and he forgot about it and left the house while I was still sleeping. I woke up to the smell of burning honey and melting plastic. House reeked for days...

    Lint question

Cloth diapers Sorry, I forget that there are diapers made out of polymers and wood pulp/paper and whatever else they put in disposable diapers since I haven't bought any of them in about 15 years. The diapers in question are made out of cotton with a trace of polyester, elastic, and...

    Lint question

I recently opened a multi layer diaper (ripped the seams open) to investigate the lumps (felt like bits of clay type kitty litter from the outside) that had formed in that one plus others like it. The one I opened also had the outer layers "disintegrating". What I found inside looks like lint...

    Kenmore 90s series dryer

Asked my husband About the part replaced, he said the repair guy said it was the heating element. I looked at the dryer and compared it to the video. Unlike the dryer in the video, the lint trap that you clean after every load is in the dryer near the drum instead of on the top near the...

    Question from a new member

I have to disagree With the comment that detergent is easy to rinse out. When my cotton clothes become more scratchy than my wools just from using detergent and become soft again when neither detergent nor water softener is used - the cause is definitely related to the detergent. Yes, the...

    Kenmore 90s series dryer

We bought it used paired with the Kenmore 70s series washer around June 2014 from a used appliance store. Around December 2014, it stopped drying (lack of heat) and we had a repair guy from the store we bought it from fix it. About 5-6 months later it stopped working again for lack of heat...

    Question from a new member

Warm rinse You got it. Or I fill it on hot at soak and then change to warm/warm when I set to wash. I do that often if I need to check water level settings before washing but need to run upstairs while machine is filling to check on the little guy.

    Question from a new member

Stan You are correct that I have to manually restart the machine for the second rinse. My machine doesn't have a fabric softener dispenser (or I've never looked for/found one). The agitator has a solid top surface. I had to clean the built up gunk of old fabric softener out of a top loader...

    Question from a new member

I have a feeling That I'm not done with cleaning my machine. In addition to a toddler in diapers, I have a teenager that doesn't think clothes need washing. I took his rocks, er socks, and put them in the machine with some washing soda to soak. I restarted the soak cycle to add agitation and...

    Question from a new member

On the bleach topic Within the cloth diapering world, there are two sets of instructions for bleaching diapers. The first is to add 1/4-1/2 cup of bleach to the machine during the wash cycle and then do lots of rinses (until no bleach smell is present). This has been the set of instructions I...
