My new to me Whirlpool DU8900XB1 Dishwasher

NICE! These are great machines regardless of options. I too had a TOL one like you, I think the 8900 is TOL? Anyways, mine was the Canadian version. I didn't have the Low Energy Wash option like you do, but I had fold down shelves are on the top rack and Light Wash was a separate button from...

Some new appliances are better than old ones

I didn't bring up Brians cause of death John, you just did. And then you have the audacity to message me and tell me its inappropriate? "I call it like I see it, even if it puts others down". You're a true narcissist.

Some new appliances are better than old ones

This forum is supposed to be a positive and supportive place where we share what we like and enjoy. Share our finds, restorations, and collections. There are brands that built machines that are less quality than others, but those brands are still enjoyed, shared, restored, and sought after...

Some new appliances are better than old ones

Ugh. Here we go again. John, that 808 is a 50 year old dryer. Of course it's going to be beat up and worn out. What did you expect? This is hardly indisputable evidence of your "Maytag bad. Whirlpool good." bullshit.

    GE 2800

I have the Canadian version of this machine. As others have said, the electronics can be spotty. The motor in mine has caused some dodgy things on the circuit boards which I plan on messing with at some point in my life. Right now its sitting underneath my stairs.

Who wants a BD and DD bearing tool?

Who wants a BD and DD bearing tool?

I have a bearing install and removal tool for both BD and DD machines. I no longer need them since I have decided to stop collecting altogether and just observe from afar. They have all the mandrels for both style of centre posts and bearing styles. Ideally I'd like this tool to be a...

    Anyone want an HA806 set?

I too want to thin the herd. I don't have any photos of them since they're in storage, and the logistics of hauling them out for a photo is a lot of work. The washer is an HA806. I put a new pump, motor glides, damper, new water valves, belts, and tub bearing. The transmission agitator shaft...

    HotPoint RimFlo question

GE Screws Ahh yes! There is another difference too, robertson/square. WP and Kenmore stuff up here was all robertson too. Maytag was philips.

    HotPoint RimFlo question

I think what probably happened was some time after NAFTA the transmission needed replacing, and when the mechanic pulled the tub out, one or more of the bolt holes were rotten. I had that happen. So the only way around it was a new tub. I did not know the white tubs were also on Kenmore...

    HotPoint RimFlo question

If it is 1985, it would only be true for the US and not Canada. Pre NAFTA things were weird up here. The only plastic transmission machines I saw up here were the ones imported from the US after NAFTA, and the ones sold as GE was ending the FF line. I had an 88 Beaumark that had a metal trans...

    HotPoint RimFlo question

I had this exact model washer years ago. Your machine has been altered. The OG machine had a dark grey tub with the two piece hand wash agi. It was a straight vane ago, not a ramp. My machine did have the metal transmission too, and mine was built in 1981. The white tub, which you have, was a...

    Most Maddening Washer Commerical

That article you posted is about this particular lawsuit where WP sued GE because GE infringed on the dual action agitator which was patented. I posted about this patent debacle almost ten years ago. Why didn't Maytag get sued? Because the Load Sensor agi, albeit a dual action, had a completely...
