Happy Update
On Martha's 60th birthday -- Nov. 6 2013 -- I got her fully up and running. The only hitch was that the house drain couldn't handle her output!
Hey gang: I'm restoring a Maytag A2MP washer and 60W dryer, and I need to do some touch up on the (white) cabinets. Has anyone found something currently sold in stores that's the correct shade and finish?
Close-up 2. Is this something I need to fix? If so, how? Was there fluid on the other side of that crack that now needs to be replaced? I've been really leery of opening up that transmission (gasket anyone?) -- should I be?
There are 2 major things wrong with the pump: both the inlet and the outlet spuds are broken off flush with the housing, and there are numerous small holes in the housing itself. (There is also a lot scale build-up inside and out, but that could have been coped with). My notion was to replace...
I'm restoring a Maytag A2MP washer, and the water drain pump is shot. I have no hope of finding an original, but there's probably some later pump that be used as a substitute. Does anybody have any suggestions/experience?
And also: If I'm supposed to remove the clutch, how might I simulate the function of the super special "Clutch Puller Tool No. 38304"? I have no idea what that might look like.
The tub etc. assembly is just not coming loose from the frame etc. Was I supposed to disassemble the clutch at some point, or is the shaft just supposed to slide right out of that?
Unimatic - when you say "concentrate on brake issues" does that mean start taking things apart? I want to try everything there is to try prior to (a) "removing" (i.e. breaking) the agitator, or (b) removing the key in order to remove the big assembly (tubs, tranny etc.)
Mark - I wasn't sure, because I've seen (on eBay) a manual which lists the A2MP right on the cover (the cover also bears a copyright of 1950, which makes no sense).
