Stupid dishwasher installers ( aka plumbers)

Well, I'm a plumber and I know bonehead engineers, lawyers, doctors and Indian chiefs. There's enough stupid to go around in every walk of life, so let's not capitalize on plumbers. As was said, could have been a 'handyman'. Kevin

Are these "real" Maytag designed/built machines?

Hmmmm....sorry that set slipped away for you. That's what I paid for mine over 13 yrs ago, but I had no idea what I was getting into...lol.   They are my first set with a FL washer, so I've had nothing previously to compare with. The dryer is pretty conventional, but the cycle that senses for...

Are these "real" Maytag designed/built machines?

This is my Neptune set. As in the second set of photos, my controls are from the same vintage. I have no idea if these are 'real' Maytags or not. I do know there are in the 'dreaded' series that caused the Class Action Law Suit that Maytag famously lost.    Mine have 'provenance'....lol...

    Looking for old-school simple dishwasher

I just bought an old homestead house with a KitchenAid dishwasher already here....Quiet Ultra Superba, black face, stainless liner. Wasn't working properly and so after investigating, I found some wear parts needing replacement...chiefly the bushings for the bottom wand. Ran great for awhile...

    LG Dishwasher Inside

As for the comment about Vikings....nothing over two stars:     http://https//www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/viking_dishwasher.html

    New dishwashers and hot water

A true three pipe hot water recirculation loop will not affect the cold water. Aftermarket units like the Grundfos work/rely on pushing small amounts of hot water into the cold side...the reason for the undersink mixing valve that hot & cold supplies plug into....at your furthest fixture from...

    New dishwashers and hot water

Grundfos makes a unit that mounts above your WH and its purpose is to give you instant hot water throughout the house.  It's not cheap, but if you don't have the third hot water return line coming back to you WH with a recirculating pump, it might be the way to go for all your fixtures.   Kevin

How do you bypass/disable the lid switch on speed queen washers?

then again, you have some of the more stupid parents who think their child is SO smart.....and there ain't a brain in there at all....my kids who are honor roll students, do some of the most bizarre things that would boggle your mind....and do the same mistake over and over and over...

Low Resale Value on Used Speed Queen Washers and Dryers

Old stereo systems are also coming into vogue again as millennials are discovering the superior sound quality of vinyl over i-pods.   This is something I know about and have been in this hobby since they were new. There was a resurgence in vinyl for a couple of reasons. One, they produced...

Speed queen FL mold & mildew smell

Interesting advice and expereinces on FL's. My used '98 Neptunes came from a family of seven out in the coutnry (five boys). Was no lawyer ploy smelling blood on this washer...it has some serious design issues. Maytag deserved the class-action law suit they got on these and their continuing...

    New 2018 speed queen pictures

Hmmmm...I doubt anything could be as bad as that 'wax switch' in my 98 FL Neptune. If the 'locked' light is on and you pause the cycle, you have to wait five minutes for the door to unlock.   Kevin

    New 2018 speed queen pictures

This has me thinking - Back in the 80s when we could buy quality TL washers that were made to last - but not necessarily the SQ brand, but maybe a Kenmore TLer or Maytag or something like that - would the price for the TL washers back then (adjusted for inflation) be comparable to the current...

    Fisher & Paykel

I was told that Bosch consumer full-size DW's are made in Mexico, not Germany. For a customer, I installed a slender Bosch DW that had a 120/220 converter. It also took dishwasher salt. If I remember correctly, it was made in Germany. Ironic there was a recall on the converter...could cause a...

    Maytage Neptune FL

Wow....someone like Neptunes...lol! John, I'm certainly not adverse to a SQ. You're right, the Neptune is a bit small. I don't know how the woman with five boys and a husband got by with this machine. So specifically, what larger SQ FL models do I need to look at? Kevin

    Maytag Neptune Dryer Help

They're sloppy that way, especially if you examine how they ride in the front. Kevin
