    Foreign Detergent in American Washers.....

HI gang....I'm considering placing an order for some detergent from Britian, such as Persil and Ariel. I have the traditional top-loading automatic washer and naturally their products are designed for the foreign washer. How would I determine how much to use in my washer and what kind of...

    Washing with vintage detergent....

Hi Laundry fans! I recently acquired a box of "Quik-Solv" detergent from the early 60's. This was Colgate's answer to P&G's "Salvo" and Lever's "Vim", in case many of you don't recognize the name. This box is full and I'd like to do a load with these tablets. However, given the age of the...

    Suds in the rinse water...

OK, laundry experts, what advice can you give on this one? While adding fabric softener to the rise water clears out excessive suds, I'm not able to use fabric softener because it reacts to my skin. I'm using white vinegar in the rinse, but it doesn't clear out the suds from the wash cycle. I've...

    Reviews on SA8 detergent......

What's everyone's opinion of Amway's (Quixstar) SA8 detergent? I've never used it and have heard many people rave about its performance. What suds level does it have? Does it have a perfume? Is it worth the expense? Will it work well in a top-loading washer? Whatever you can tell me would be a help!

    Consumer Reports Rates Dishwashing liquids/foam.

Who's tried SA8 detergent? Has anyone tried Amway's (Quixstar) SA8 detergent? I've heard many raves about it, but I'm skeptical. Having never used it, it's got me wondering: does it have a scent? what's its suds level? will it work in a regular top loading washer? Is it worth the expense? What...

Advice on Vintage Hobart KitchenAid mixers

Glad you have a 4-C mixer! I have one also and really enjoy using it. As for the reason why the head may be bobbing, the first thing I thought of is whether the beater has a warp at the bottom of it. Take a look at it and see. Also, check your bowl at the bottom and see if it's a bowl designed...

    British Detergents

Hi group...I'm thinking about ordering some British detergents from either the British Corner Shop or Brit Super Store. What sort of success has anyone had ordering from either of these places? Is one better than the other in terms of price or shipping? Also, how do the British laundry products...

    Detergent from Australia....

Does anyone know where you can order laundry detergent from Australia? I've found several online grocers in Australia, but none of them ship outside Australia. I know we can order British detergent, but I'd like to give Drive, Cold Power, and Spree detergents a shot! Thanks!

    Who's a fan of Fresh Start ?

Hi group! I've rediscovered Fresh Start detergent, the 1/4 cup powder. I've forgotten how well it cleans and is a low-sudser. Is there anyone else out there that's a fan who can give their feedback on this as well? Also, since Colgate no longer owns it, has anyone tried it since Phoenix Brands...

    Gain Detergent.....for white trash?

Hi group...I've been reading that Gain detergent has been labeled as a "white trash" detergent. Is it because it's a medium-priced product or is it that low-income people buy it? Personally, I like it, but I don't consider myself white trash! :)

    where to purchase foreign detergent...

Hi gang! I've seen some of the photos of the laundry products from foreign countries. I wouldn't mind trying some of the detergent tablets, like the Ariel, Surf, or Fairy brands. How does one go about looking for a place where they can be bought? I know someone can help! Thanks!

    New Blue Vim Tablets

The commercial was fun to see! I remember Vim, but does anyone know when Vim officially went off of store shelves?

    Liquid All vs. Wisk.....

Hi gang! I saw from the photo posted by gansky1 (which is a GREAT PHOTO, incidentally!) that there's a container of the vintage Liquid "all" and one of "Wisk." Can anybody clarify if there was much difference in the two products back then? Was Liquid "all" basically a bargain brand detergent?

    Who made "Amaze"?

Hi everyone! Is anyone familiar with a laundry pre-soak called "AMAZE"? I recently got a commerical DVD set and there's a commerical for it. I'd not heard of it and was wondering if anyone else has. Did Colgate make this one? I would say this was around the late '60's to early '70's.

    Lets talk detergents!!!

BURST DETERGENT Spiralactivator...you're correct! There was a detergent called "BURST." Colgate made that one in the late 60's to compete with P&G's "DASH." It was marketed as a "low-suds powerhouse." I don't think it was out very long. I did hear back in the '80's that it was still made for...
