    Mice and dishwashers

spoken from experience I recently moved from a 100 year old house in a 100 year old neighborhood...mice and rats were a constant problem. #1 go to a farm supply store...tell the guy you have a rodent problem and he'll sell you a bucket of green blocks. I forget the name but farmers use them in...

I've taken my morning coffee in the shower more than once; in fact I did this morning. Why not a beer?

    Baking Issue -- Need Advice

Bud From North Little Rock Check Edwards Food Giant on Camp Robinson Rd., North Little Rock. I was in there buying frozen peaches for a Thanksgiving Cobbler few weeks back. Frozen coconut is beside the frozen fruit. Didn't think it was made anymore but I mostly shop the Kroger or Wal Mart these...

    Heavy Duty

I saw a post with a pic of a Maytag dryer; the words Heavy Duty were on the machine. Made me remember my mother always insisted her washer and dryer were labeled as "Heavy Duty". Did that really make a difference or was it just a marketing tool?

Deep well stove element. How was it used?

I thought deep wells were cool My grandmother and all my aunts had them. But every time I'd peek under the lid it was always the same thing; either green beans or turnip greens....seriously!!!..lol

    Mirro Matic percolator

beauty for sure I was a coffee pot collector for years. Down sized earlier this year and gave all but 3 favorites away. I do not think that pot is immersible. Have you tried just a regular cord? You can still find them at the mom and pop hardware stores.

    Cooking Carrots

Bake them in the oven with a can of beef broth. Of course add some salt, pepper and onion. I love them cooked like that, taste very similar to baking them with a pot roast. I never scrap/peel them...that's were all the vitamins are.

    X#%*&$# Squirrels!

Moth Balls I moved about 6 months ago from a 100 year old house in a 100 year old neighborhood. Oak trees were every where. I had the same problem with all my potted plants along with them building nest in my attic and rooting up my flower beds. Cute as they may be, they are destructive little...

    Putting up

Chris: Freezing tomatoes It's pretty simple. Dip the tomatoes in boiling water so the jacket will peel off. Cut them into chunk size, drop in a freezer zip baggie and toss in the freezer. I use a pint mason jar for the first couple bags so I can eyeball what makes a glass jar pint. Matt: Sorry...

    Putting up

It's becomming a lost art I "put-up" a lug of tomatoes, usually green beans and a few purple hull peas every summer. We have a chest freezer and there's really no need to can anything. A friend taught me a few years ago to freeze tomatoes; which I've done and for cooking they are just a good as...

    Olive oil .....

rub the spot with a good douse of Ultra Dawn...roll up let set for a few minutes, wash in hot water. I'm married to a truck driver that not only gets dirty but also enjoys wearing his greasy hamburgers and other truck stop fare. If it's really bad I also douse some household ammonia on the...

Golden Girls House is for sale

Guess I'm confussed I was at Universal Studio in March 1995; the tour guide took us by the Golden Girls house and their neighbor ( don't remember the name but they had the dog named Dyfus). The house was only a front held up by 2x4's as was the next door neighbors.

    cleaning cat litter

thanks everyone!! Thank you!! We use the clumping litter; the boys have no claws (or balls for that matter) and I think the litter gets hung up in their pads. I've been using the electric broom in between routine floor/rug/carpet care. I've ordered the litter box matt from Chewy's this morning...
