Snowy was just sodium perborate (oxygen bleach), not sure if it contained enzymes.
Biz OTOH was a pre-soak product that contained oxygen bleach (sodium perborate) and enzyme (protease).
There was a rush of pre-soak products containing enzymes at at that time (Axion, Amway's Trizyme, etc....). All largely took a page from fact sodium perborate does remove stains in warm to cool water, but requires more time than at elevated temps. Then fact enzymes also work best given extended contact time, and warm to slightly cool water.
Certain soils are set by hot water, especially those derived from protein. For ages housewives or anyone else doing laundry were advised to pre-wash or pre-soak things that would be done in hot water or boil washed in cold first to prevent setting of stains or soils.
When first introduced few detergents on US market contained enzymes or oxygen bleach. P&G (makers of Biz) upped their game by incorporating both into nation's top selling detergent (Tide), and that caused Biz sales to slowly tank.
In fact Tide with Bleach killed off sales from P&G's first detergent with oxygen bleach, Oxydol. That brand too was sold off along with Biz in the great P&G reshuffling about a decade or so ago now. [this post was last edited: 2/24/2021-19:39]
