People Are Waking Up To Vintage Appliances

My niece recently replaced her older Kenmore with an LG. The installer said to get her Smart Phone so she could work it from her phone. I would never consider that unless you just activated it and then it put the hamper full in the machine, added soap, ran the cycle then automatically put all...

    NYT on Induction Cooking

In 2018, I had a Generac generator installed as I was tired of the seemingly constant outages. Within 10 seconds of an outage the Generac jumps into action and runs everything in the house I need. I do use gas for cooking and will never go back to electric cooking and I use oil for my heating...

    Shipping containers (ocean freight)

A friend has got a smaller container for his workshop and added a diesel cab heater, using a larger tank and burning cheaper kerosene. Shop is always nice and toasty and bright with regular 120 .v. Have had thoughts of putting one of those heaters in my garage but why bother since its just used...

    Hot Wash Cold Rinse Cycle?

My Maytag 511 has hot, warm, cold wash temps. All rinses are cold, unless you set the timer back to wash to fill. In the middle of winter, my well water is frigid cold, so I might set it back to use warm on rinse.

Maytag Presents: Combination Convenience - 16mm Film

Lisa Douglass had a pink one on Green Acres, although I never seen her using it. Only the Haney metal drum powered by an old outboard motor that flung clothes all over the kitchen.

Kenmore Portable Roto Rack in San Antonio

I had one of the LK all push button Freedom Makers, bought from Sears from the Appliance manager, family friend, for $100 from a repo, Worked perfect for many years until the door panel screws dug a hole into the liner and basically ruined it.

    Cycle and Fabric Naming Conventions

I like my Maytags cycles, Normal, Delicate, Permanent press and thats it. None of that foolish labeling of sturdy, etc.

    vintage telephones on moderm line

I still have the old copper lines to my house and my calls pass thru 3 more switching stations before going to the main one about 12 miles away. I did have to have them come in and replace my modem the first of the year and the tech said they will be replacing all the lines to fiber in the near...

    vintage telephones on moderm line

Yes, I have several, some hooked up with the loud bell you can hear outside. You need a phone line to the house first, then a filter between the jack on the wall and the actual phone and it works and internet works when plugged directly , I used to work for the phone company and I hooked a lot...

When did Maytag start to go bad?

Maytag started to go down after my 1984 Maytag 511 washer and 410 dryer were built and still going strong and run just like they came out of the box new. Those are REAL Maytags. The next generation of the fast stroke washers with funky looking panels had alot more problems and then they added...
