Ahhh, Youtube, the biggest hypocrites on the internet. Don't get me started. Anything remotely contradicting an official set narrative gets you banned for life violating their arbitrary ever goal post shifting terms of service "spam, scams, or other deceptive practices" Yet when you go to watch videos 95% of the adverts are fake AI generated stuff with a notable percentage of which is either not family friendly or not legal to begin with. Companies hold themselves to one standard, everyone else to another standard. The power imbalance is very real and I don't see things in the appliance industry changing until consumers get their say back.

Today they will build and sell anything half baked while demanding that you love it.
I agree 100%.

Take for example only using 2 tablespoons of laundry detergent and that fabric softener killing everything which is a lie. Tell it to the thousands of people who still use the recommended amount of laundry detergent and fabric softener without any issues. This is on top of using the proper cycle without issues too.
Indeed!.... that crap's enough to nut your brains if you let it!
I've read SO much bullcrap on the internet since I first got a computer in the 1990s - and I knew back then that there were opinionated mental cases coming out of the woodwork trying to spread crap.

Has anyone with Hobart connections ever found any interesting notes or files on the design, production runs, or other behind the scenes content about the Hobart era KitchenAid dishwashers? It seems they’d introduce a new line about every 3 years and it was always neat to see the updates they would make.

I’d love to have heard the insider talks about sales, ideas for design improvements they considered, and related documentation — beyond publicly available literature (owners manuals, service manuals) to know more about the people and teams who built these great machines. For instance I once learned that the guy who designed the 80’s era KitchenAid garbage disposers and trash compactors with the pull down door later in life went to work for Viking- and he brought some of those same designs with him that resurfaced years later.

Maybe there’s a Hobart museum or something in Troy, Ohio. 🙂

Well-stated Chet!

A person, preferrably one with a properly Functioning Brain, has to wonder why this recent widespread torrent of Misinformation, Lies, Double Standards, is becoming the norm in recent times.
It's also quite obvious to me and others that something's up, something's going on, and for various reasons yet to be determined.

To me, it this crap seems to have infected everything imaginable, with hoards of society buying into this twisted form of lifstyle.
You mentioned youtube and banning, it's not just that website either.
I've personally have gotten banned from some websites for stating honest Facts, along with Proof, and that caused other members to get pissed off enough to get me tossed out. - for being Honest! WTF!
As for "standards", there's that old saying: "If it wasn't for Double Standards, they'd have no standards at all".

I've personally seen what it's done to people that I know, acquaintances, neighbors, and how it's affected them.
And trying to convince them that their beliefs are not right is like pulling teeth.
It's like they've been brainwashed to "follow the crowd", regardless of any reasoning or facts brought to the table.
I'll finish up by saying once again: "The Dumbing-Down Of Society Has Largely Become Successful".
Umm are you familiar with Anglo-American history? We are the lands of the snake-oil salesmen, fortune tellers, Granny elixirs, reflexologists, etc. These things are centuries old from the shores of Great Britain, to the USA, the home of PT Barnum.
None of this is new.

I'm certainly educated as to past history of snake-oil products.
But what I mentioned in my previous discussion here is about the Recent slew of and increase in this practice, highly increased by modern technology.
There's something behind it all that's got my red flags waving like in a storm.
It's literally a flood of this garbage that's upsetting society's mindset as to what's good or bad.
Brainwashing of the masses.
Consumerism, or Capitolism, call it what you like, is evil.

Hi Cory thanks for posting this interesting ad for the new KitchenAid energy saver four dishwashers, really need to see of course I was working with KitchenAid during this time. This was the last full line that was designed under the Hobart ownership of KitchenAid.

Whirlpool almost immediately did away with the portable dishwashers which were making them no money and the sink dishwasher combinations once they took over.

The idea of heating the water in the sump without the main motor running so that they could be done in a reasonable time with the full 1400 W elements they couldn’t run those with the motor on a 15 amp circuit that they required the dishwasher to be connected to a 20 amp circuit. They could’ve done so

It would’ve been much more effective to do with the motor running. It would’ve taken longer and used more energy, which they were trying to be very stingy with.

You other guys should stay on topic with dishwashers. This is not a threat about AI and all that if you don’t know anything about what’s being discussed, don’t bother.

Great discussion overall,

Post number 19 your ISE dishwasher is made by whirlpool whirlpool had bought the company by the Time the ISE KitchenAid style dishwashers were sold, there are plenty of parts available for them. What do you need

The 19 series dishwashers where they eliminated. The dry heater did not dry nearly as well as the ones with the heated dry before and after.

I do agree with you, Matt and other folks that I don’t have to have everything bone dry the minute I open the machine and I’ve always used air dry on my dishwashers, but it was a huge mistake for them to require people to have a cool dry cycle

For many consumers that use dishwashers, they rinse things off so thoroughly when they put them in that the only real purpose of the machine for them is to give them a final rinse and they want them bone dry and there were lots of complaints. That’s why KitchenAid quickly went back to the heated dry.

The KDS19 still had a 165° sani cycle. They never had just a 150° sani cycle.

John L

There was an additional 165° thermostat that was used when you pushed sani cycle, otherwise they would not have put that button on the machine. I know the final rinse always heated to 150 unless you push Sani cycle.

John L
All cycles are Sani unless selecting "Fast Wash No Dry" or "Rinse and Hold" There is no dedicated Sani cycle that's found on 18 and older models. All heating phases are 150F only on the 19 models.

You have the Imperial model. The name for each model is located underneath the console panel.
Mine is the KDC-19
The one with the black control panel - Timer chrome knob on the left, two pushbuttons on right, Sani light on right side of the black area inline with that stripe.

That's weird, I could sworn you posted the machine before and it had the 3 button arrangement. I must have been thinking of another machine. I see a ton of these while browsing through Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. It's hard keeping track after a while.

I can understand that Dan.....
I've worked on so many stereos over the years, and forget model numbers too.
See photo on my previous post.

Y’all know that Hobart patents are free online right? I read them all the time. They can be complex to read, since they’re more legal documents than technical. But the info is all there.
Why they designed the dimple fan jets, why there’s 4 arms over two. How the wash arm doesn’t fly off the shaft even though it’s not bolted on.
And my personal favorite; the soil sensing pressure filter was invented by Hobart in 1982, but not used comercially till WP implemented it in the KM and KA stainless tub series Powercleans.

Thanks for that info! I found them and enjoyed reading through a few of them.

It has only gotten worse and worse every single year!

Don't even get me started with using only 2 tablespoons of soap for laundry, period. This is so stupid!
