Actually I do have a Kelvinator with a brine tank! It's a 1929 model if I am correct.

My mom had two of those. One quit working, and she bought a later models in the late 1970s, when Universal was a GE division.
My Mom also had a Universal Coffeematic that I can recall as far back as 1954. In 1972 I bought a Universal Coffeematic at the Salvation Army Thrift Store for $2.00 and used it for many years. I gave it to my sister in 1978 and she gave it to her former MIL in about 1982 and she was still using it daily at that time. These electric percs were some of the very best that were made during the early 50’s.

I usually make my coffee in one of those cheap Single Cup drip coffeemakers.
However, on occasion, or if I have company, I use a Farberware 4 cup percolator.
I almost bought one, but they were rediculously expensive (see photo).
One day though, I was browsing a 2nd hand store at the mall and spotted one, in brand new never-used condition for $7! - I grabbed it!

I collected electric percolators for many years. Over the years from 1983 thru 2025 I owned at least 20 or more Farberware Superfast Perc’s.
The older Farberware Electric Perc’s that were still made in New York were very good, but their weak point was always the thermostats which tended to fail after a few years.
But since the early 1990’s they’ve been manufactured in China and they are JUNK. Many of them don’t work properly right outta the box, failing to get hot enough to properly brew the coffee in the first place, and then failing to keep it warm beyond lukewarm.

Like Kevin 313 began buying percolators at age 8 at garage sales when Mr. Coffee and Norelco drip makers were the new thing. His father complained that the coffee was not hot or strong enough from one. All 400 line the top shelves on three walls of his museum.
I had great luck with Sunbeam AP-20 percolators over the years.

Sorry to hear about your issues with the Farberware Percs.
They must had had a bad batch of them for a while.
It does happen at times.
My 4-cup "Superfast" which cost me a measily $7 hasn't given me any problems.
And I've had it for about 10 years.

I’m really happy that your 4 cup Farberware Superfast Percolator works well for you. You were lucky to get one of the new ones that didn’t have thermostat problems. I had an older 4 cup Superfast made in Yonkers, NY that I bought for $4.00 at a thrift store many years ago that I used at work to make my morning coffee every workday. When I retired I gave it to a coworker who was thrilled to get it.
These are great electric perks when they work properly. The stainless steel interior, stem and basket make them among the easiest to keep sparkling clean. I hope you get many years of trouble free service from yours.

Admiral 1948. Still waiting for my Triple-Thrill. Sigh.
"Big 10" screen" - I thought the Crosley 12" above was small until I saw this. At least they both have rectangular screens, instead of round like some from that time.

Ah, Tom, don't be so quick to assume.
What you actually see is what the front bezel lets you see.
In many cases, the picture tube behind it is actually round.
I've restored a few of those late 40's/early 50's combo sets for customers who wanted to keep them as family heirlooms.
As for that 1948 Admiral combo, I wonder how many who purchased them were dissapointed that in 1950, 45RPM records came out, that those record changers couldn't play.
Because RCA Victor was already working on the 45 RPM format since the mid-1940s.
Once that was introduced, all the phono manufacturers scrambled to jump on board.
There was quite a bit of corporate frustration and challenging going on back then.
Here's a 1948 Admiral tv chassis - notice the actual picture is rectangular in the round tube.

Funny how the fridge ad states that 13 cubic feet is "big", with 9.2 CF fresh food section, 134lbs sounded SOOO much bigger than a bit less than 4 cubic feet. That total is less than a dinky apartment sized box these days. I guess marketing folks haven't really changed all that much, I think they outright lie more nowadays, but if apples and oranges cloud the facts, go with it!

If you really think about it, the technology of the time was not as advanced as today.
"BIG" back then meant the then-current offerings that could be produced, taking into account factory tooling of the time.
Remember those early 1950s TV sets that had BIG 12" screens.
"BIG" back then meant hifi amplifiers with 10 watts.
But agreed, today's Marketing has gotten pretty rediculous in its attempt to lure potential consumers.
Lies and misinformation has become the norm, even within society...
Like those gentlemen bragging about the size of their junk.
