    My new Whirlpool's Mystery Cycle...

$$$$ If one only has $400 for a washer, they could be pretty happy with this Whirlpool/Kenmore. Granted, the SQ is BUILT compared to this. But,apparently, the 'world washer' this Whirlmore is based on has a decent track record, even though there's not much to it. I like the near woo-woo sounds of...

    Old Washers/Dryers

hey.. Welcome Andy! I've liked washers for over 53 years,I'm 56. If they would've been back then the way they are now(cheaply made, little character,ELECTRONIC controls,& mostly short lived),I doubt I'd have noticed them & doubt this cool forum would exist. Glad the 50's-80's existed as they...

    My new Whirlpool's Mystery Cycle...

and... If 'Superwash' was marked as an actual part of an available cycle,it would OFFICALLY make the machine RUN longer, using more ENERGY,possibly hurting it's rating. As is ,it CAN be made to run that extended time if the CONSUMER does it on their own............I like that this Whirlpool is...

A Lady emerges from The Pile

007 would cringe... ...if he ran across the wrath of the mighty LK! Sean Connery in a wetsuit swirling about the massive fins & menacing screw, fighting for his life after his scuba gear was ripped apart from a too close fin spank. LOVE the underwater vid!!!!

    POD 10/24/10

The '56 Whirpool featured today is the machine my mom had that sparked my washer interest. She overloaded it constantly, and since I was only 3 in 1957,I knew no different. Plus,my dad cut a hole in the main sewer downpipe to facilitate the drainhose, rigged with a vacuum cleaner tube & lots of...

    The Put Away Wet Kenmore

rig it Wouldn't it be possible to clean/rough-up & J-B Weld the heck out of the tub/post? Some other rust-stop/epoxy ''repair''? If a replacement tub/post is $$/hard to come by,I would think a rigged repair would allow limited enjoyment,if not not daily driver use,of you nice woo-woo acquisition.

Wandered through Lowe's looking at washers... Observations.

Not to mention, did the previous user of the laundramat equipment wash some NASTY(hairy/poopy/greasy/infectious,etc)laundry in it? Will the machine fill completely/work properly? I still understand the laundramat option compared to dropping BIG bucks that most of us don't have for new machines...

Wandered through Lowe's looking at washers... Observations.

Similar- -to my thoughts. Our '96 KM 90 series has been running/looking good for 14+ years. ALL the features we like and obviously built to last. If it had to be replaced(theft, fire, flood, tornado, meteor strike),a Speed Queen TL would be my first choice.

    Whirlpool BD Washer in Seattle

1st 1 I've seen here.. The white '63 Imperial is the same washer my mom had,I used. Cool.

    todays picture

mickeyd, That Vari-Flex was great most of the time in our '67 LK. It could get confounded with air pockets & blue jeans at least as badly as other agitators. Needed a dual-action screw, which is essentially what most modern agitators evolved into. SHAME the DD's couldn't have a longer/slower...

    I just couldn't resist...

And.. They should've used a little more PLASTIC. I AM sorry to be harsh, but my disappointment cup overfloweth like our '63 Frigidaire Imperial rinse cycle used to. Nevermore.

    I just couldn't resist...

oh,to be impressed But I'm not. Still sounds like a dumb teenager continually hitting the gas & letting off in his mom's slant 6 Valiant. Hope it does good for you.

GE's New Washer Gets Dirty Clothes Ready to Wear by Morning

Sounds... ...Bee-Zar to me. Quick wash & dry,30-40 miutes max? Minimal 'punishment' for not planning ahead, instead of the GE cycling all night to give you damp duds in the morning.

    I just couldn't resist...

nonplussed I wish I could like the sounds of the new type washers. I can't. Sounds like they're straining doing what they should do happily. The turn over doesn't impress either. Sorry. My '96 DD is gonna' keep doin' our duds for the forseeable future. If it was terminal at this point,I'd go SQ...

    I just couldn't resist...

hopeful I would love to hear this type machine will work well & long. Keep us informed. My '96 shredmore ain't gettin' any younger or gentler!(and our water bills ARE creeping up).

The new stuff Sux - What have we come to?

Barely... ...able to stand it! Sears was a JOY 40 years ago. Our laundry rooms had beautiful, functional, affordable equipment waiting for their next load. Toro,WheelHorse,Simplicity,LawnBoy,Craftsman, etc manacured our yards. Plymouths,Pontiacs,Oldsmobiles decorated streets & driveways...

    Whirlpool Appliance Commercial - 1970s

Strong I remember that ad with the eagle. Too bad Whirlpool & most every other USA manufacturer doesn't. We would NOT be in the sad shape we find ourselves in today.

Why buy one when you can have two at twice the price?

Better Now... Brent,You would haved cracked up watching me run all the way from one end of our basement, upstairs & OUTSIDE before I slowed down!I don't know what caused the flame(gas valve didn't completely shut off??). We only kept the Frigidaire till about 1968 when, after months of nagging,my...

Why buy one when you can have two at twice the price?

Sorry My dad got us a new '65 Imperial gas dryer when I was 10. Cool(cold?) looking machine. I was doing the wash then. First dry with the new Frig,I thought maybe it was quicker(HA!)than the '60 Norge it replaced. I opened the door after it had been running towels about 30 minutes. Still damp...
