1966 Frigidaire washer for sale in Oneida NY

WCDL That exact Frigidaire model was my daily driver for 4 years in a tiny apartment (because it used such a small amount of water, I was able to drain it into the small kitchen sink without any problem). It was a great machine and kept me out of the laundromats.   I do want another...

    1960's Tappan Portable Dishwasher

Not familiar with these but would love to try one. What's that thing in the middle of the machine, under the upper rack? Is it a spray arm? Or a spray tube like old Frigidaires?

    Fun new toy!

Aferim! Beautiful machine and great job of cleaning it up; some parts look new.   I think these Hobart KA's were the first dishwashers I was ever aware of. Suburban cousins all seemed to have one (some with more cycle selections) before we moved from an apartment to a house.   Were there...

    Spiffy Hotpoint BOL

So it's called a "Swirlaway Shower" I remember those GE portables that had the Hotpoint porcelain tubs and the Hotpoint upper rack.   I always asked myself, "Geez; why didn't they make all their clown-shoe dishwashers like that?"

    Spiffy Hotpoint BOL

I'm almost tempted to buy this. Looks brand new and despite its cheapish exterior, it looks like a respectable dishwasher on the inside.   The tub looks like speckled porcelain enamel or is it plastisol cleverly camouflaged? What's that weird vent on the inside top?

    Maytag experts, I need advice

Thanks to all responders When I saw the machine yesterday, the first thing I discovered was they had in fact replaced the old Maytag with a 1980's vintage Maytag Fabric-Matic, single speed, the same machine as the picture below but with larger tub.  Nobody but me noticed the difference.   ...

    Caloric range

Great old stove I bought one of these beauties years ago and then found out that none of the propane suppliers in my area would agree to convert the stove because of pilot lights being against local code.   That gas Ultra-Ray broiler was the best domestic broiler/rotisserie I've ever used. Pity.

    1955 GE Filter-flo

Yes and yes Lawrence you're a fellow FF expert and likely you have lots of GE ads through the years where the new model was going through what are now called "Beta" versions for the camera with parts from existing machines filling in for parts that were either not yet in production or some that...

    Maytag experts, I need advice

A close friend just called and asked me for advice for her parents' old Maytag washer which, IIRC is an A702.   It's making a slight burning smell and one of the people in the house says they "thought" they saw some smoke.   I'm going over there tomorrow for dinner and I plan to look at it...

    Vintage KA Portable DW

KDC-57A Wonderful little machine. I'd buy this for the wood top alone. I think KitchenAid was the only brand that used real Butcher Block instead of laminated products.

1961 GE filter flow washer picture of the day

I didn't overload my Maytag. I tend not to overload machines for many reasons, not getting a thorough rinse being most important to me.

1961 GE filter flow washer picture of the day

Now that you mention it... I have the original Mini-Basket and I've used it a bunch of times. Worked fine, wastes lots of water, great for someone like me who has no interest in hand-washing in a sink.   Consumer Reports assessment of the GE Mini-Basket (as compared to the Hotpoint Duo-Load...

    Thermador DW

and yet I'd still prefer this beautiful and useful machine to 95% of the overpriced crap being sold new today that take hours to complete a cycle, are all clones of each other and are unbelievably unimaginative examples of industrial design.    Unlike many of my bone-head wealthy friends and...

    loudest dishwashers: 1960s-2000 ...

In our experience, hands down it was the 1973 GE FL built-in with the green color scheme. It did the job, though. That is if we're not counting pre-1960's machines: we had a GE 1950's FL with the Bakelite impeller that shook the house.   Interesting flip was when GE switched to an all-plastic...

Hello gawgess What a beautiful machine!   Did the latch and buttons come in that Crayola bronze color or did you do that?

1962 whirlpool poly clean dry cleaning center

Thank you for this explanation We had one of these self-serve dry-cleaners near us on First Avenue in NYC. I'm still unclear how conventional dry cleaning works, but being interested in washing machines I always wondered how these worked. Mother wasn't.   Those machines looked very spiffy...

GE Wall Refrigerator - pink - thoughts?

It looks like this There's one still available on eBay if it hasn't been grabbed.  There was a link to it in Shoppers Square's eBay Watch. Also, may not fit the agitator cap of a machine this old. FS dispensers weren't very plentiful in the early sixties and were usually for the TOL's.   and...
