I just came across an interesting trivia regarding the first year of the Filter-flo washer.  The first pic is from an ad published in March 1955, the second pic is from an ad in June 1955.  Note the difference in hinge arrangement.  Was the left hand hinge a carryover from earlier models or a pic of a factory mock-up that didn't make it into production?  Until I found this ad I only knew GE's to be hinged at the rear.

Comments or info?

Yes and yes

Lawrence you're a fellow FF expert and likely you have lots of GE ads through the years where the new model was going through what are now called "Beta" versions for the camera with parts from existing machines filling in for parts that were either not yet in production or some that hadn't been thought of.

We've seen lots of GE models that were modified during production years.

Examples below being the ad/cut sheet version of the 1962 WA-1050W  with the reservoir bleach dispenser used in the 1960 and 1961 TOL's for the and the later 1962 WA-1050W version with the new "one shot" bleach dispenser.

Thanks to Gansky for that wonderful first picture (sorry, I can't remember the member who supplied the pictures of his laundry gallery).

Ken,

My 1962 Sweets insert shows the original style bleach dispenser.  The 1963 insert shows the second version.  Obviously there was a period of transition.

I looked back at additional printed materials and all of the information that I have shows a left-handed lid.  The 1954 models used rear hinges.  Apparently GE went back to the rear hinges during the 1955 model year.
