Silhouettes If you decide not to go for them, please let me know.   I think these were the first of the Silhouettes with the spiral agitator and the Jupiter 2 lint filters.

what would be the chance of finding in mint condition still as new a maytag washer like this?

810S??? What are the two buttons of the left? Extra rinse or Suds Saver?   Wasn't this model one of the first non-center dial 'Tags?   I remember seeing these for the first time in the appliance department of Malley's in New Haven, CT. I was shocked, no exaggeration. Especially when I saw...

    Caloric monster

They looked kind of spiffy in the photos I had a brochure of this generation of Caloric stoves when I first started to research appliances in 1970. My Mother had a friend who bought one of these for her NYC apartment and was not happy with it.   What I didn't know back then was that Caloric...

POD 1959 GE TOL Washer Possibly WA955S

I couldn't agree more Tom, don't you have a pair of these in the Museum?   I, alas, only have the control panels, but I was happy to get them.   I think 1959 and 1960 were GE's most colorful years.

    GM/Frigidare Dishwasher

I don't think GM was very interested in the DW line Kinda feeble that they kept the upper rack design that accommodated the Frigidaire spray tube when they went to the standard spray arm system with tower.   Was the newer washing system that much better than the tube?

    Ariel multi

No enzymes; pro or con From previous discussions on this subject in this forum I've been looking around for effective detergents without enzymes in the formula. It has been said that enzymes might be responsible for skin irritation from residue. I have used Ariel detergents from many different...

Hear, hear!! And furthermore... Dishwasher racks should go back to being blue! (or pink, or orange, or turquoise {I'm getting tired of monochromatic dishwashers[ I think we have Miele and Asko to thank for that]}).   Here's my idea of appliance beauty:

    My KDS-57A

Aferim! Congratulations on the machine and thank you for the great pictures. I peeled the fake wood-grain plastic off of my KA 17-A too. I wondered if it was the same stuff they used to line drawers. Not only does it look great but the wood-grain  dated the machines.   IMO the 17-A series was...

New Fangled Brazilian Top loader?? Looks like we have an Antipodean rip-off of the old, doomed Hotpoint Duo-Load.   I want it.

Another Mobile Maid. $125, Owatonna, MN.

Aferim! Use and enjoy your new machine in good health. One piece of advice: set the Silverware basket that came with the machine aside and use a conventionally designed GE silverware basket that has an open weave mesh on all sides. Silver Shower or not, you'll get better cleaning results for...
