    black light phosphate test

All that stir, I meant phosphates obviously.

    black light phosphate test

I think you might be confusing phosphorus with phosphorescents. Tide probably does, but maybe they work under different spectrum of light. Considering the glowing detergents you mentioned are rather on the cheap side, they might be using the simplest forms of OBAs rather than what Tide...

    black light phosphate test

I think rather than phosphates it might be the OBAs used, since their work is solely based on reflecting UV.

Speed Queen AWNE92SP113TW01 Impressions(Sorry Long Post)

Unfortunately Just because SQ manufactures deep-fill top-loading machines, it became the best-ever-flawless brand on this site praised by many. I understand some people just so desperately need the tradition in their laundry rooms and closets with rivers of lukewarm water used each load; but...

    Pressure Cookers

Precisely why I prefer the new generation kind of pressure cookers. When you hear hissing, reduce the heat. They're completely quiet after you master the heat adjusting - so even foaming foods have less potential to clog the valve, as opposed to jiggly top which requires constant small release...

    Pressure Cookers

I agree that the bigger the better. You can always make less food in bigger pot. Keep in mind you can only fill it to 2/3, and with foaming foods(beans, rice etc.) no more than half-full. For beans I actually pre-soak them overnight, and then they're ready in 15-20 minutes. When selecting a...

    Now Samsung

IIRC the whole previous exploding recall was due to thin, plastic suspension brackets. Multiple videos on youtube show them split in half. Samsung officially claimed the spin speeds were so high the washers' OOB sensors didn't have time to react, which to me is a completely oblivious piece of...

    Compact washer and dryer.

Stefan, just to make sure, those small, portable 110V dryers *do* need venting. Many people use them with an in-door venting kit, but that leads to excess moisture, plenty of extra heat, and lint issues in your apartment. Since you're renting in Texas I assume, it would cause an enormous burden...

    Compact washer and dryer.

Measured the temperatures with a thermometer in the lint filter two years ago, and lost the data. IIRC no setting exceeded 130F, but sure differences between regular and low heat were negligible, something within 5F. Was often opening the dryer mid-cycle to remove items for ironing while...

    Compact washer and dryer.

In my opinion condenser units, or at least the Bosch I had, run a lot cooler than traditional vented dryers. I also noticed a lot less wear on clothes and softer finish; it depends on one's habits and settings though. I admired my Bosch a lot. Only thing, it was prone to roll up bulky items like...

    Compact washer and dryer.

All ventless dryers available on US market run on 220V, is there a possibility of such connection? Otherwise, either a washer dryer combo (personally, worthless) or a small 110v portable dryer you could vent out the window. For a washer, do you need it portable per se(on casters)? If not, plenty...

Miele: Have your cake and dishwash it too!

Askomiele, back in Europe I used the same(most probably, mine had the semi-electronic control) dishwasher for approximately a year; highly doubt the plate would have stayed horizontal *LOL*. It was such a powerful machine, any glasses, bowls(unless heavy pyrex glass), or even lighter pots and...

Clothes getting holes when washed in other machines

I agree it doesn't necessarily need to be a washer issue; granted, the action might be more vigorous, water level switch malfunctioning and not filling with enough water, cycles set for too long, snags on wash basket, etc. On the other hand, the dryer could play a role, detergent used, bleach...

OK... What do you call Tomato Sauce... "Sauce" or "Gravy" ???

Technically Gravy refers to a sauce thickened with starch; often based on meat drippings or deglazed pan contents. Tomato sauce is definitely 'sauce'. Macaroni is a shape of pasta, known to be commonly used for mac'n cheese. Wildly guessing, probably originated from Italian 'maccheroni'...

    Must I dry clean?

Paulo, I agree with you completely, but I think we're entering an entirely different subject - quality of the piece varies greatly regardless of the price, unfortunately. Plenty of my h&m shirts hold up as well as some much more expensive items, or sometimes even better. All I'm saying is if a...

    Must I dry clean?

All of my Galliano shirts and t-shirts claim to be dry-clean only. Same applies to a couple of silk scarves, woolens and even blue jeans. I think manufacturers at one point had to consider the fact most households don't have the slightest idea how to utilize their washers, choose proper...

    persil

Must have scanned through the list too fast, and read 'sulfate' rather than 'sulfonate'. Well, as long as I understand why German Universal gel might contain OBAs [they do have formulas for colors and darks separately, Lord! Moreover, my favorite Domol brand makes formulations for darks(enzymes...

    Must I dry clean?

Forgot about damp ironing! I also always run my linens on a rinse cycle with a cup or so of boiled starch. Makes it ridiculously easy to iron(with plenty of steam though) even if the item dried fully. Prevents wrinkling from happening too fast, too.

Ingredients The website shows all ingredients used; to be quite honest, they're almost identical to my recent favorite, Ecover Sunny Day Liquid. Unfortunately the latter I first saw at TJ Maxx after it was already discontinued. Back to Persil though, the german Universal version contains: 5 %...

    Must I dry clean?

Dry Cleaning With modern detergents and washing machines I don't believe in dry-clean-only garments anymore; regardless of what the tag says (only exception of acrylic-and-woolen layered suits). Linen is one of the most sturdy natural fabric and technically, if uncolored, may even be...
