    1986 GE Filter Flo questions

Jo Congratulations on getting the pair!  Glad to know that they're functioning.  It is "normal" for a Filter-flo to make a 'clunk' noise as agitation begins (both in wash and in rinse).  The brake can also be loud in time.  Otherwise the washer is fairly quiet as washers go.   I remember the...

    Cruise-O-Matic: Part Ten

Reply #70 I believe the 1958 Edsel was the only year for the pushbutton transmission selector, located in the steering wheel hub.  The 1959 models used the more-conventional column shifter.  I suspect the later arrangement was less expensive and, as Edsels didn't sell like Ford was hoping, was...

    POD 11-13--23 Eaton's VIKING Dryer

Tom, This Viking pair is interesting in that it's the most fully-featured non-GE-badged GE product I've seen.  Both the washer and dryer have features unique to the GE badge only products (mini-basket, fluorescent lamp).  On the dryer, the description indicates that only the PP cycle includes a...

Vintage oven: how much is it worth?

Well, If your offering were in perfect and pristine condition (i.e., just as new) and you found a buyer who has been looking for this exact item for his/her MCM kitchen, you could expect to get maybe a small fortune for it.   However, if your offering has problems and is less than pristine...

Turquoise GE Washer/Dryer Combo in Cleveland

Here are the photos from the Sweets inserts for 1964, 1965 and 1966, in that order.  I apologize for the photo quality.   lawrence

Turquoise GE Washer/Dryer Combo in Cleveland

The 1964 and 1965 Sweets insert both shows the WA-860Y.  The 1966 Sweets insert does not reference a model number; however, the illustration is identical to the 'Y' of the previous 2 years.   lawrence

Turquoise GE Washer/Dryer Combo in Cleveland

Ken, I agree that this one is a WD-860.  The 1961 was a WD-860V, the WD-860W was offered in both 1962 and 1963.  Visually, it's identical to the WD-860Y, which was offered in 1964 and 1965.  I guess GE figured "if it ain't broke don't fix it."   lawrence

GE Washer/Dryer 1994 (filter flo?) questions

Jo, That's a nice washer and the matching dryer should be as well.  However, I think this washer is older than 1994.  It should be maybe 1985-1988 or 1989-ish.  Unless the seller is aware of problems, and they reportedly work fine, don't shy away from them.  I think parts should be available if...

    Nice GE Washer in Texas

After seeing this again, now I'm wondering if this photo was taken in a mobile home?  Mobile homes from this time period (1964-ish) normally placed the washing machine in the bathroom, which this could be.  Given the paneled wall, the wall with Marlite on it, the floor covering (with floor...

Vintage Finds When Up All Hours

Ah Ha Thanks for the additional post, it explains a lot.  That's an office/commercial space - explains why the cabinets and the tops are the same color and product and why the floor is VCT.  Both of these features are very unlikely to be found in a residence.   I still  like it.   lawrence
