I remember nonsense terms like the Sensitronic Cycle. What could it offer along side the other auto dry cycles?

This Viking pair is interesting in that it's the most fully-featured non-GE-badged GE product I've seen. Both the washer and dryer have features unique to the GE badge only products (mini-basket, fluorescent lamp). On the dryer, the description indicates that only the PP cycle includes a cool-down period (it seems to leave out the Sensitronic cycle by its wording). The text describes a higher degree of dryness measurement in the Sensitronic cycle. The dryer offers 4 temperatures, and with a START button, would account for the 5 push buttons, but not sure what the rocker switch controls; could be end of cycle signal or could be the cool-down feature (?) if it's coupled with the Automatic cycle.
It's a pretty cool pair. I've never seen any with the Viking badge.

The text mentions timed-bleach dispenser. I guess this is somewhat a combination of Hotpoint and GE control panel. The 2nd little knob offers the various options of extra rinse, cold wash, auto soak, .. I venture to speculate the dryer's rocker switch incorporates both cycle signal and extended tumble cooldown for perm press auto dry (Sensitronic) cycle. There could have been two separate Sensitronic cycles for regular and perm press or they could have done a "hotpoint" kind of arrangement whereby a single Sensitronic dry cycle covered the concept of regular and perm press cycles and tagging on optional extended cool down tumble. On my 1978 big load dryer, there was a poly knits auto dry cycle and the regular/perm press fabrics were incorporated into a single auto dry cycle. The latter regular/perm press cycle had a longer extended cool down tumble duration vs. the poly/knits auto dry with optional extended cool down cycle

T Eaton and company was an outfit very much like Sears but here in Canada only.
Like sears with the Kenmore line Eaton's had the Viking line and they sold a premium product.
Often they negotiated favourable terms with manufactures to get the top of the line or newest options.
I had a viking washer when I first bough my home and it served me well until I got stupid and replaced an easy fix washer that needed a timer and seals replaced with a new piece of crap..
Viking brand was only sold through the T Eaton company stores or ordered online.
I also own a Viking lawnmower ( a yellow OMC lawn boy from 1972 with a D407 commercial engine all needle and roller bearing... still runs now in my reserve fleet of power equipment ).
And I had a Viking outboard That I think was also an OMC or Chrysler product.
You could get a Viking Vacuum cleaner and TV or stereo as well.
All good stuff from the days when you sat on a chesterfield in the show room and the sales man in a suit would tell about the products.
You would order and it would be delivered to your home and set up for you.
Each store had a warehouse service dept to look after the customer.
It was a business model that lasted into the 90s.
You could get everything from the Eaton's Catalogue with Mr Eaton's name or brand on it and his seal of approval from Stationary engines to Shotguns.
The engines are of special interest.
In Canada it was quite common for farmers to mechanize a lot of their own stuff.
Stationary engines you pulled around where common.
After the 1950s when electrification came in most of the old gas powered washers were converted to electricity and the Johnson Iron horse became the standard small engine used on farms often salvaged from Eaton's wash machines. Later specialty ordered...
I'm linking an amusing video from the NFB because of the amusing reference to sending a letter to Mr Eaton.....
This kind of stuff happened my Gran also was not very good with English and she also would write letters to the Catalogue Dept at Eaton's with orders for clarity!
I still have an Eaton's Sleeping bag ordered that way at sometime in the 60s...
Its said to be good luck to polish the shoe on Mr Eaton's statue in the Eaton's centre..

If you take a drive thru BC you'll run across the Eaton's private rail car in 3 valley gap. It's called the Eatonia. I found it unexpectedly years ago when I was driving through and stopped for a break, there's not much else there but all the scenery.
