Restore or Re-Sell - Seeking Advice

Hi Don! Amazingly beautiful set! I'd keep them! Our neighbors had this set when I was a boy and I saw them running constantly as I was best friends with their son and we often played in the basement where the washer and dryer were. Always a sink full of Tide suds waiting for the next load...

New Washer and Dryer Suggestions - Long Story Below

good luck with your new set We got an LG set (3570) eight and half years ago and they have performed perfectly without any service issues. Hope you experience the same. The door magnet on LG front loaders is genius - door looks closed but it is actually vented to prevent mold issues.

Happy 18th B Day to my Whirlpool Duet

Happy birthday! That's a good long life for a modern washing machine -- any washing machine! I gave a 2006 Frigidaire front loader to my son and daughter-in-law about six years ago, who in turn gave it to my son's mother-in-law after a few years of heavy use and it finally gave up recently with...

    Single Knob Front Loaders

The Frig-GE-more models from Electrolux in the early 2000's had a base model with just one control knob. It had an electro-mechanical timer. You could set it, skip, repeat cycle sequences with the turn of the dial, but timing was computer controlled. (so many revolutions of the drum per soil...

Westinghouse LTJ (?) Heavy Duty Washer

That's a great score and looks to be in wonderful shape but for the boot. My family had the LTF590 like Tom's family did. Looked exactly like this machine but as Tom mentioned had four water temperature combinations instead of three. Does this one have a tub light? The LTF590 did; and it had two...

Old Washing Machines Are Less Efficient and Consume More Energy

I don't find much time difference My LG front loader takes about 40 minutes to do a load of laundry set to average soil with three spray rinses and two deep rinses. Dryer time is reduced with washer's 1200 rpm spin. If heating the water it does take over an hour, but that is the exception.

Apex Wash-a-Matic re-Restoration and Full Cycle Video

beautiful work, Robert! Interesting, ingenious design. Thanks for sharing your amazing, painstaking, detailed restoration work. This design really successfully mimics front-loading wash action in a top-load format (the low water use and gentle scrubbing action.) And it doesn't knot the...

    WCI Frigidaire set

Yes, a pretty set and must have been lightly used to still be around and look so good. This washer had the Franklin innards rather than the Westinghouse platform, which provided larger capacity but still mediocre performance.

POD 4/38/2022 - Hotpoint Wonderinse Washer

Back to the original question Yes, this lint filter was some sort of tray that had to be manually cleaned. It didn't last long in the Hotpoint line up before they switched to an agitator-mounted filter.
