    Maytag washer belts

It's got the Pittman, long agitation stroke. - about 180 degrees.

    Maytag washer belts

Pitman/Helical. I like the long stroke agitation that it produces.

    My Introduction

Yes, a child's toy. I'll bet it would struggle to do just a pair of socks though... LOL!

    Maytag washer belts

Just make sure the spring loaded sliding motor mount isn't binding. I lubed mine with Super Lube synthetic grease ages ago.

    Time For a New Furnace

Another reason why I'm prone to liking boiler/radiator heat is...... it's silent. Throughout the house, upstairs, downstairs, no annoying "whoosh" of air blowing and no "turbine" fan noise. Plus.... no possibility of dust blowing from the vents, no filters to change. In fact, the only sound I...

    Maytag washer belts

As not surprising, a lot of replacement parts for ANYthing these days are sub-standard in quality and useful life. In the shop, we all experienced the deterioration of cassette belts, turntable belts. and other parts as far back as the 1990s. Belts would dry out and snap, or turn to goo, and...

    Time For a New Furnace

Chet, I wish I could help you there, but I've got a Crown boiler/radiator system. Installed in 2002, 3 years before I moved into the house, it's doing just fine. Crown's based in Philly by the way, and a popular choice here. Your's is a central air system? My one friend's got a Lennox system...

    Maytag washer belts

I must be lucky. My Maytag's about 38 years old, and still fine on it's original belts. So is the matching dryer. The belts all have "Maytag" written on them in white ink.

what would be your choice of vintage dishwasher to install in a modern kitchen if you do not went something modern or with manual filter to clean

My Kitchenaid doesn't annoy me with its operating sounds. Yes, I can hear it, slightly, in other parts of the house, but as most people do, they ignore background sounds and focus on what they're doing, or watching a movie on TV. Just like a ticking clock in the background, you learn to not hear...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

I understand you're concerns, and where young people have been born-into this new age of "convenience products". You mention about "manipulating", and that's one of the tools that corporations and advertizing depend on to sell their products, services, and even Snake Oil junk. The subliminal...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

And yet another bravo to this posting! In these current times, it's utterly annoying to listen to tv and radio advertizing which promotes things that society really doesn't need, and is made to sound so attractive.... so many times I hear the phrase "Download The App". Gambling, games...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

Bravo for that long and informative posting! It takes a strong-minded person with a functioning brain to be able make it through life without having their freedoms and individuality taken away from them.

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

My mom had a 1950-60s cannister vac that was sold by a door-to-door salesman. It was a "Compact Revelation", made by Interstate Inc. and lasted forever. Built like a tank of thick cast aluminum, and always had good performance. The newer models had powered floor brush attachments, and eventually...

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

I've always insisted on "Bagged" machines, and since I had worked for Eureka, chose that brand. - they were always sturdy machines. The Hoover bagless "Air Steerable" machine was given to me by a neighbor who claimed it didn't work right, and was going to trash it. Well, The machine was clogged...

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

That SEBO vac is in several ways similar to the Hoover WindTunnel bagless that I also have. It also has impressive suction that pulls in dirt when it gets near. And a jiffy dirt container that empties in a flash. But without the "electronics" and high price.

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

A bit of overkill Chet, but hey, it's up to you.

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

Yes it did, Chet, once, back in the 80's. I accidentally picked up a nail that I didn't see under the sofa. The nail shot into the fan chamber and took out several fan blades, plus it shot threw the fan chamber housing and made a terrible racket. Some JB Weld epoxy to seal up the hole in the fan...

Dishwashers losing popularity in US Homes???

And that system is one that works well for manufacturers. I've often spoken about society's "conditioning", and that's one thing that manufacturers count on.

    Who Makes These Vacuums?

Yes, those Sanitaires, and the commercial / home versions are tough machines, but only if used "properly". If you're a careless slob and leave screws, bolts, nails, marbles, etc laying around the floor, it's called...... abuse. Just like putting a bowling ball in a washer to clean it. :devilish:
