    Tide powder with actilift

Yes, that's it. I couldn't remember what it was they called it now. There doesn't seem to be in any stores around here that carry it. I was having trouble finding it when I was in Michigan too. Target seems to have d/c'd it.

    Tide powder with actilift

As I've just relocated to the Asheville, NC area. I've been, of course, checking out the detergent selections in our various stores. I've noticed that regular Tide powder, he and regular, are now advertising "with acti-lift". He's anyone used these yet? Any difference in performance? Suds...

    Instant Fels Naptha

From the looks of some of our clothes growing up, I would put it on display! Lol

    Instant Fels Naptha

We used the liquid version. I think that was much like Amway's Smashing White, which contained phosphorous, IIRC

    Instant Fels Naptha

As i was growing up, we used Instant Fels as our main laundry soap. Our water was mechanically softened well water. we augmented with Snowy and/or Roman Cleanser, and Miracle White. Whites still had that tell tale grey. After reading the ingredient list, I understand why, It's loaded with...

    Liquid Splashless Clorox chlorine bleach

The company may not be all that helpful. I called when I had issues with the Clorox 2 pacs tinting my white sheets blue. Kind of like a little old lady with too much bluing in her hair. Plus there was streaking, it wasn't pretty. All they said was " rewash and call us back if it doesn't wash...

    Tide Dry Cleaners?

IIRC, from reading the website awhile back. They actually give you a choice, lol. I'm thinking that the smell of Perc and whatever scent they've added will smell kind of like cheap air freshener and bathroom smells. Makes me hope that I'm wrong. :-)

    Cleaning products for the home

I've used Shaklee's Basic H for for geneal cleaning, for years. It's unscented and can be mixed in different concentrations based on your needs, from a couple of drops for windows to a couple teaspoons for degreasing. It is generally well tolerated by people with sensitivities. Microfibre cloths...

    Cleaning Products You Miss.....

I miss Lux dish washing liquid, Bowlene powder toilet cleanser, Miracle White, and the original Lestoil. We used Lux in our bath water as kids, I still remember the scent in the bath. Great for dishes too. Bowlene would get the rust off of anything in seconds flat. When Miracle White had...

Sears Ultra Plus Stain-Fighting Formula Detergent

Sears Ultra Plus Stain-Fighting Formula Detergent

I use ammonia in my front load machines. I use probably 1/2 to 3/4 cup with detergent. I've used it for so long, I don't measure. It shouldn't bother anyone with sensitive skin, I add an extra rinse anyway. I'm more sensitive to detergent not being rinsed out.

Sears Ultra Plus Stain-Fighting Formula Detergent

Lisa, I agree with you on the smell when using it for cleaning. I don't think it's that strong in the wash, since its diluted with quite a bit of water.

Sears Ultra Plus Stain-Fighting Formula Detergent

Ammonia I've always added ammonia, about a cup, to the wash loads with stinkiness. Gets perspiration and other odours out of most things I throw at it. Much better than borax

    Do You Mend, And....

That was a great find! They're certainly workhorses that can still be worked on without too much difficulty getting parts.

    Do You Mend, And....

Lawrence, thank you! He is a very capable helper, except he keeps stealing the bobbins for his own projects. Aside from the fun projects I like to do. I mend rips, tears, sew on buttons and have replaced the odd zipper here and there. We also hem pants and do some basic alterations. I will also...

    Recommendations for New Range?

We did a kitchen appliance upgrade last year. We went with Frigidaire all induction. They were having a promotion, that if you bought fridge too, the micro hood and dishwasher were free. Induction is really cool. Literally, our kitchen doesn't heat up as much in the summer and most importantly...
