Whirlpool WTW4816FW3: Bad control board and Lowes warranty issues

Chet yes my washer is based more on the old school design but on Auto Sense fill, Normal/Regular cycle it essentially operates like an HE TL and in fact on the lower left corner of the control panle it dies indicate HE/High Efficiency. I can put an entire 3.5 cu ft laundry basket full of...

Whirlpool WTW4816FW3: Bad control board and Lowes warranty issues

Oh for cryin’ out loud Jerome, have you actually used an HE Top loader? My 6 year old Roper (built by Whirlpool) RTW4516FW2 on the Auto Sense water level uses just enough water to cover the load by approx. 1-2” and I can guarantee you that this bad boy has gotten EVERY load that I’ve washed...

    EPA Reversals

There’s absolutely nothing “political” about recognizing Climate Change and the reality of the Earths limited natural resources. But there certainly seems to be one side of the political spectrum that wants to make this political. Just because some folks feel that it’s their God given right...

    VOA

Rex, I’m sorry to hear that your job is in jeopardy due to the “DOUCHE” rape of the federal government. What a terrible thing it is for VOA to be shut down after over 80 years of bringing the truth and current world news to countries around the world that may not have access to it. I hope...

    Vintage Food Advertisements: Part Twenty-three

My fascination with old magazines began in 1964 when we moved to the Northern California coast and I attended the 8th grade at Fort Ross Elementary School, a proverbial little red three room schoolhouse built in 1885, it’s a historical monument now. My classroom had 6th, 7th and 8th grades in...

    Vintage Food Advertisements: Part Twenty-three

Louie, I really do love and enjoy these threads about the vintage food, appliances, cars and other “modern” products that you post. In the 70’s and 80’s I used to buy old magazines from used bookstore just so I could pour over the advertisements. All of my life I’ve had an interest in the...

    Vintage Food Advertisements: Part Twenty-three

Re:#’s 39 & 40 Louie, When I was 3 years to 7 years old my first best friend Paul’s father was a Salesman for Sunshine Biscuit Company out of San Francisco, Calif. Sunshine cookies were always available at his house. When I started kindergarten we walked to and from the school bus stop...

1963 GE Wall Oven Not Heating

Yes, if the Time Bake function is turned on then the oven will only turn on at the preset time that shows on the clock. If this doesn’t work then I don’t know what else could be wrong except maybe the oven control needs to be replaced. There are lots of members here that have much mote...

1963 GE Wall Oven Not Heating

Did the delay start control for the oven somehow inadvertently get turned on to auto start? Check the see if it’s on manual. If not set to manual and then try the oven again, this may all that’s needed to get your oven to turn on. Good luck! HTH, Eddie

    foca and roma

I’ve been using Ariel powder exclusively for about 6 mo. now. For a full to the top load in my 3.5 cu ft TL I use 3/4 cup, 1/2 a load I use 1/2 cup. I haven’t been so pleased with a laundry detergent in years! Ariel powder gets out any stain and is particularly effective at removing...

Friends Don't Let Friends Buy GE

Re:#25 I love my 3 yr old GE Smooth Top Electric stove! I’ve had two different smooth top electric stoves in the late 90’s and early ‘00’s, a Maytag and then a Kenmore, both black. They weren’t as easy to keep clean as my current GE. I’m very particular too and don’t like smudges or burnt...

    Modern Living: Part Sixteen

re:#64 I used to use Instant Fels Naptha when I bought my first washer in 1972, a used Maytag Model J wringer washer for $35.00 from the Salvation Army Thrift Store. It was a really great cleaning laundry soap, rinsed out easily and left the clothes really soft, especially since I line dried...

Great chefs use tinned copper. A great chef can prepare a great meal with whatever tools and implements that are available. True some may have their own personal preferences, but I doubt that EVERY great chef uses tinned copper pots and pans exclusively. I’ve seen Julia Child cook with...

    New Washer Delima

Hi Lawrence, I’ve had my Roper RTW4516FW2 since June 2019, almost 6 years now and it has been completely trouble free! I don’t believe that the Roper is still being sold, at least now at Lowes where I bought it. But the Amana NTW4516FW2 is identical to my Roper and my sister also owns this...

    Energy Star Range

Chet, If the element plugs are the same as the plugs on the Sensi-Temp elements and the wattage is the same then you should be good to go. But I’m not a tech, I imagine that John will have some thoughts on this work around. Eddie

    Energy Star Range

The only thing that I’m aware of changing on the newer coil top electric stoves are the burner elements. They all have safety buttons in the center of the elements that will only turn on if a pan is on the burner. This is to prevent fires from someone leaving a burner on without a pan on the...

Using regular cast iron pans on an induction range that has a ceramic cooktop will result in the same scratched surface that Chet has on his GE smooth top range now. I used regular cast iron pans on my old coil top electric stove and never had a burner fail. I liked using my cast iron pans...
