Condenser Fan Motor for 1962 GE TC-469

Hurray! New motor arrived and I got it installed. Refrigerator is all cleaned up, back in place and chugging away. It is much quieter now- I did not realize how noisy the old condenser fan motor was! We used to be able to hear it from the living room, about 30 feet away- now have to be inside...

Condenser Fan Motor for 1962 GE TC-469

Thank you- obviously electrics are not my best subject. New part on order. Meanwhile this is a great opportunity to do a 'deep clean' on the coils. I will report back when the new motor is installed. -JG

Condenser Fan Motor for 1962 GE TC-469

John, thank you for your reply! Just to be sure I am looking at apples to apples - my question was about the amps not watts - so the .27 amp motor can be used in place of the old .4 amp motor? Thanks- John G.

Condenser Fan Motor for 1962 GE TC-469

Greetings- I have not posted sine 2019 when David 'Turbokinetic' worked wonders on my 1962 TC-469 refrigerator. Although the defrost timer problem continues, I have kept everything working with 2x weekly manual defrosts UNTIL last week when the old condenser fan seized. Luckily I noticed the...

    Looking for a 30" 1959-1962ish Turquoise Range

I have a 30" turquoise Frigidaire Custom Imperial range that I am having to part with (we are buying a new house and there will be nowhere for it). It is probably a bit newer than what you were looking for- I am guessing 1964. It is an early self-cleaning oven model. Overall it is in good...

    Easy Spindrier on Facebook

My mother had one of these- she got it in the early 60s - when all of her friends had automatics. She absolutely loved and kept it into the early 70s! In fact- the only reason she finally traded it for an automatic was that it developed a tendency to 'walk' while in use.

    Sarah's Country House Update

Sarah- The dishwasher is still in the shed... trying to find someone to work for me one day so I can bring it to Tuscaloosa. The house looks wonderful with the addition removed! Love the tile porch floor and brick walk. I am planning a complete re-do of our kitchen this autumn. Will keep...

Shelter At Home Cooking: Show Us Yours!

We had two boxes of Café Du Monde beignet mix that we got at a mardis gras party in February (in Greensboro Alabama...). Wanting to take a trip, but with travel out of the question- through the magic of vintage Sunbeam electric cookery- we visited the exotic French Quarter of New Orleans right...

Tappan 400 Electric - Broiler pan & Rotisserie

Does anyone have a photo of a complete rotisserie and the correct broiler pan for the large oven in a Tappan Fabulous 400 electric range? I discovered most of a rotisserie (missing one support and possibly a shield). A photos of a complete unit would be very helpful in determining what I need...

Ironrite with the best price tag ever.

I use my Ironrite about every two weeks. Keeps all our napkins ready for use- plus I use it for my 'business' (Snow-e-white vintage and antique linens). Very calming to sit and iron- and everything turns out so well- nice and crisp and no need for starch!

    Your Favorite Cookbooks

My first cookbook, and still my favorite out of a huge collection, is my mother's old Culinary Arts Institute Encyclopedic Cookbook, copyright 1950. According to the inscription, mom got it as some sort of prize in Home Economics at Neville Island School, Neville Island, PA (class of 1955)...

1962 GE Spacemaker tc-469 defrost timer

David: I can't thank you enough for all you did to get our fridge running again! Even Linda- who initially wanted to replace it with a new model- is happy to have our old friend working (actually- I think she has come to appreciate the old appliances more as a result all she learned through...

    Countertops: Linoleum or Formica?

Sarah: We chose Formica in the turquoise boomerang pattern (color now discontinued- drat!) for our kitchen. We have been very happy with its durability, easy maintenance, and continued good looks. Where we did not have the original countertops, the installer found old-fashioned stainless trim to...

1962 GE Spacemaker tc-469 defrost timer

It was such a pleasure to meet David today- and I appreciate so much his expertise and assistance. I was amazed when he discovered the incorrectly done repair - and a few other things that needed to be corrected! There is no telling for how many years the problems existed - yet the machine...

    Sarah Perdue’s Mid Century Kitchen

Sarah: Looks like a lovely house! Can't wait to see how your project progresses. I agree with your comment about the addition being out of character with the original structure. I don't however, agree that large houses are overrated!
