    Creda washing machines

I recall that advert. It was the rhythm spin and was supposed to reduce creasing. I knew a woman who had one. Not sure if it span in different directions. It spun for a few seconds then tumbled and each spin phase got faster and longer until it was at full speed. It had a setting to bypass the...

    New Japanese Dishwasher

Been to Japan many times and spent time in their massive electrical departments. There are no full size dishwashers available in Japan, only these plastic bench top models. I guess most Japanese homes are very small so no room to full size dishwasher. Most Japanese homes have a top load washer...

    Bosch Heat Pump Drier

So, had to buy a new drier as was not able to get my Maytag drier connected up to a 30 amp outlet. We are now living in rural Australia and have a crappy Power supply to our house. So brought a Bosch series 6 heat pump drier. Have to say am pretty impressed with it. Did a load of towels spun at...

Front loaders or HE top loaders - Which would you choose?

Interesting thread. If I could only have one washing machine I would always go for a front load washer. Cycles are longer but they wash and rinse really well and I would say use less water than the HE top load washers. I just think that the HE TL washers don’t move clothes thru the water as well...

    Radiomarelli Twin Tub

Interesting TT. I wonder what all the holes in the side walls of the wash tub are for. Would be great to see it in action. The drain hose is rediculously short. Would be difficult to get that hooked over a sink. Interesting thread. Thanks for posting Keith. Simon

A plea for support for my appliance videos

Very nice machine you have there. I was wondering if it has a pump or is it gravity drain. I seem to recall that in the UK all the front loaders in the laundromats were gravity drain. On a resent trip to Japan, it seems that most of the domestic washers, front and top loading are gravity drain...

    reverse direction dryers

I have a Maytag Atlantis dryer and it does not reverse tumble. I have found if a load of sheets and duvet covers is big, no balling at all. If the load is small then sheets etc ball up really quickly and much time spent interrupting the cycle to de-ball, which is very frustrating. So I always...

    1978 Simpson 122 Automatic video

Thanks for the video Leon. Brought back many memories of my first visit to Australia in 1979. My aunt who lives in Tasmania had the top of the line Simpson washer late 70s that had hot, warm and cold temp selector rocker switch and the load size rocker switch. I loved the way it spun the water...

American washers and info displayed on control panel

Has anyone ever noticed that in the US the new front load washers control panel seems to always have the spin speed listed as low medium high and the water as cold warm hot extra hot. In Europe and Australia the speed of spin is displayed eg 400rmp, 800rpm 1000rpm etc. And the temperature is...

    Top Load or Front Load....?

I have both front and top load washers in my laundry. I have to say the front loader does a much better job than the TL machines and it is my main driver. In Australia we are very water conscious and FLs use a fraction of the water the TLs do I have 3 Fisher & Paykel TLs and they are not bad...

    Just saw this on CNN

That was great! Thanks for sharing. I was trying to explain my fascination with washing machines to a work colleague last week, she couldn't really get it. Must show her the clip Simon

Help needed re circulation pump LG true steam washer

So, the repair guy came to look at the LG Trusteam washer and agreed the recirculating pump had broken. He wanted to fix it but I advised I had a replacement warranty, he thought I was mad wanting a new washer and tried very hard to persuade me to let him fix it but I stood by principles and...

Help needed re circulation pump LG true steam washer

Thanks for the tip. I managed to get the bottom front panel off and checked the tube from the re-circulation pump for blockages but none. Now the pump makes a really weird noise and no water pumping. Just remembered that I got a 5 year replacement warranty which is good until next year. Should...

Help needed re circulation pump LG true steam washer

I have a 10kg LG true steam washer. The re-circulation pump is activating but only a dribble of water comes out. Trying to open the back/bottom and rear but it is like fort Knox. Anyone have any tips how to get inside to check for blockages etc? Simon Sydney Australia

    1970s bench top dishwasher UK

Hi Mike, Thanks for the YouTube of the Electrolux Dishmaid. Never seen one of those before. Looks like a nifty little machine. Pretty advanced for 1961, 55 years ago. Wow! Aussie Landry rooms doing well. I treated myself to a new F&P Washsmart TL which is so quiet even on spin. I had to let...

    1970s bench top dishwasher UK

Thanks guys for your replies and Andy yes, the Lilybet is the exact dishwasher. Love the brochure. Brings the memories flooding back. The US version looks similar, lots of interesting information. I just got back from Japan and they do not have regular dishwashers, only small bench top models...

    1970s bench top dishwasher UK

Doe any of the UK guys remember a cylindrical shaped dishwasher that had a clear plastic dome that fixed to the base of the unit? When it was working you could watch the wash action. My best friend's Mum had one that sat on the draining board. I used to love watching it washing. Never seen one...

Top load horizontal axis washing machines availability in Australia

So I am trying to get a European top load horizontal axis washer for a friend who has a narrow space and can't fit a regular 600mm washer. I cannot find anything in Australia apart from regular frontload washers and regular impeller/agitator washers. Anyone here in Oz know if any are available...

What is the WORSE washer you have ever owned

Maytag Atlantis TL washer has to be the worst machine I have ever owned. It is really noisy, washes poorly and does a very bad rinse. It looks good but performs really poorly. I still have it but can't remember the last time I used it. I love the Maytag atlantis dryer though.
