Beam related to Franklin as well as Apex

Back in time Mayfan69 thanks for the share. I remember seeing this machine with both the Stampco and Turner name. Both machines had a bad reputation for service repairs. Every year Stampco had a booth at the Royal Melbourne Show as did the other washing machine manufacturer's. Working models...

    Frigidare POD JUne 5

Frigidaire semi-automatic This POD is from Australia. Every washing machine maker back then produced a semi-automatic washer as the bottom end of the line-up. There was generally a selector switch for either agitate/pulsate and spin. The second dial was a timer for the period of time you want...

Remember when radio had personality? CKLW!

KSFO am San Francisco My partner was raised in the SF Bay Area during the 50's. KSFO and Don Sherwood ruled the air ways. You started your day with radio personality Sherwood. KSFO had a great station break in which everyone loved and couldn't get enough of, listen and see what I mean. Simpomatic

    Leonard??? Duracrest???

In Australia if you could not afford the Kelvinator brand you could purchase the Leonard brand. Same as General Electric and Hotpoint here in the USA. One of the collectors in Australia has posted a thread of a Leonard semi-automatic washer he has in his collection, the one with the hole in the...

    Simpson washing machine Picture thread

Simpsomatic (not Simpsamatic) Thanks for posting this wonderful collection of washing machines that are truly an Australian icon. Machines of this quality will never be seen (or made)again. My screen name is Simpsomatic because of my facination with the semi-automatic with the butterfly control...

Epic/Duet/Kenmore HE water level increase: Thoughts?

More water I have a Frigidaire Affinity. Fills with barely enough water to wet the clothes. They also come out stinking of mold, especially the towels. At the moment I have remedied the situation by adding water through the detergent dispenser. Lugging the jugs of water is getting tiresome. How...

Epic/Duet/Kenmore HE water level increase: Thoughts?

More Water I need to raise the water level in a new Frigidaire Infinity. Everything comes out smelling of mold. At the moment I have remedied the situation by adding water through the detergent draw until it reaches the rubber seal at the bottom of the glass. Hauling the jugs of water is...

    Very old Simpson

Strathmore And yet another Simpson pops up. I grew up in the suburb next to Stratmore, it may belong to the parents of one of the kids I went to school with. I think this is the automatic for which the semi-automatic model has the black butterfly wing knobs. My relatives still have it in their...

Pics & my first Video of a 1968 Simpson Semi Automatic Fluid Drive Washer

Simpsomatic Leon, Unbeleivable what is still out there in Aussie land. Great find. My experience with the simpsomatic was the model with the butterfly knobs. My brother in law's parents still own it and use it in their holiday house at Rosebud in Vistoria. Hard to explain the semi-automatic...

    Lightburn H Axis Twin Tub

Hi Nathan, I am amazed at the finds you present us with. Growing up in Melbourne I am familiar with all the machines so far. Australian Kelvinator Semi- Automatic

Jon, Yes, the perforated tub sits inside the solid outer tub.....Surpisingly enough this is the exact machine my aunty Hilda traded her pastel green Turner Sapphire for. It was built like a tank.

    Turner Sapphire

Aunty Hilda Leon, I wondered who got the machine. It brings back great memories. My aunty Hilda lived in Box Hill and had the pastel green sapphire. I used to stay with her for school holidays. I could not wait till wash day. She had a briquette hot water heater so we had to wait for that to be...
