Try this Try holding down the start/cancel button for 30 seconds and see if the cancel cycle will start. You will get "1 min" in the countdown window. The control interface can be a little tempermental.  I have the same dishwasher.

What Dan said Have you installed this machine? Are you trying to test run it with cold water? "Automatic Water Heating" will pause the timer until the water temperature gets up to a pre-set number (140 degrees?). I think it is probably fine.
