POD 4/38/2022 - Hotpoint Wonderinse Washer

Pre-Downey Economics Labs, makers of Electrasol & Finish dishwasher detergents, as well as a host of commercial detergents, introduced Rinse Rite for the Hotpoint Wonderinse units in the late 50's. Like many dishwasher detergents, it was sold through appliance dealers. Retail price 89 cents =...

Tips on locked 1950s Hotpoint door latch that won't open.

Maybe it's like a Frigidaire from that period. I found this regarding Frigidaire Fridges with lever latches. Maybe there is a way to remove the trim so you can access the workings of the door latch and release the door. Is the freezer door still ok?

    POD 4/22/22

Thanks I guess I never knew the lower plastic housing was so flammable. Maybe that's why this was in the basement of an estate sale I went to...... (disclosure, I redid the "Imperial Roll-about" label). Guess I'll keep this on display away from my flame-throwers!

I have never heard the complete story about these Westinghouse dishwashers and their nasty habit of burning up. Can anyone shed some light?

Help Identifying a Kitchenaid by Hobart Dishwasher

KDI-14 A KDI-14 from the early 60’s. Probably a KDI-54 model if it was a portable. Parts are tough to find but I bet you could MacGuyver your way to restoring it to working condition.

KitchenAid KDI-58: what's missing at the top?

half gone It looks like the bottom half of the Constant Rinse has broken away. The assembly mounts to the upper housing with 2 screws. I'm not sure if it is exactly the same part as on earlier models. This is om my KDI-16

    Part(s) for KitchenAid Imperial 21 Dishwasher (KDI-21AD)

Maybe not dishwasher related? I wonder if this is a gasket from a blender or canning jar. I can't imagine how it could dislodge from the vent. If you're willing, remove the bottom panel and look for water staining on the bottom of the tub that would indicate a leak. Yes, continue to "hit up...

Date of Mfg for our Newly Acquired Flair

Or 63 This model Flair was offered in 1962 and 1963. This is a good one, without the Speed Heat and Heat Minder burners that usually have failed by now. Also the porcelain lined oven is probably in better shape than the chrome ovens. There’s a “Fans of the Frigidaire Flair” group on Facebook.

Pop Up Sewer Clean Out Relief Valves

Great idea Our 60 - 65 year old development was built in the middle of a pine forest. All the homes originally had septic tanks, so the sewer lines are fairly shallow. A few years back we had water backing up out of the laundry drain. The plumber who came said "if I take that clean out cap off...

    Frigidaire 1-18

Sorry I checked and I don't have a spare bellows.... There is one on eBay, though. The "5300" before the part number just indicates it's a post-WCI part. Seller has 4 available. https://www.ebay.com/itm/284627258412?hash=item42451b4c2c:g:m5wAAOSwjwph8wxR

Vintage parts in Albany Unfortunately, there are no more mom & pop appliance & parts stores left in Albany. My best luck has always been with eBay. I will check my parts stash to see if I have an extra one. My grandfather was a Trombley from Morrisonville..... I haven't been there in 35 years.
