Hi-
I inherited my mom's KDI-17A and have done a couple repairs on it. Last weekend, I installed a timer. While connecting wires between the timer and the program switch, I managed to knock off a very brittle hard fiber tab that interacts with the door latch. Now, when I close the door, the machine starts whether the handle is locked down or open. I have tried to find a replacement program switch but have had no luck and was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for bypassing this problem.

Also, when reconnecting wires, I noticed that the end of the orange wire connecting to the power switch was looking pretty fried. Can I get a replacement wire with end forks and where would I find it? In one of the wiring diagrams for this machine, I noticed that an orange wire connects to the heating unit. Last night when I ran the machine, the water did not seem hot so I'm hoping I can replace this wire and solve that problem.

4161440 is the updated part #, 115505 is the old one. $5 is much better deal though (I didn't have the updated part# on hand).

Thank you so much! Figuring out the updated part number is always a challenge. I got an old part number from an exploded diagram but it was different from what you both found: C-105821. I couldn't find anything available online so thank you for ferreting that out!

As for my other question: do you know where I can find a replacement wire with end clips that attach to the terminal tabs on the power switch? I'd like to replace the orange wire since it looks a bit charred.

Thanks again!

Thank you! My part is supposed to arrive sometime this coming week. Looking forward to not having to have the DW door propped open when not in use. I have a small kitchen.
