"Any other suggestions?" The obvious answer: hoover the fabrics with a turbo-brush before you wash them.

    Advice with coffee/tea stains

Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate is what used to be the bleaching agent in the old chlorine-based powders. I think it was also used in the old gel-liquids (the opaque white-coloured ones). It gave a lovely aroma of chlorine, and usually tended to whisk away tea/coffee stains in one wash. The modern...

    My mum's new dishwasher

Ah - a single speed pump. That means that when it detects extra soiling and drains the pre-rinse water, the alternating spray arm pattern allows the single speed pump to deliver powerful blasts per basket. Good. On the other hand, if it detects the pre-rinse water being relatively clear, it...

    My mum's new dishwasher

Reply #8 I like the fact that your upper basket spray arm seems to have round holes. Does it spray quite forcefully to the upper basket? I wish Bosch would supply an upper spray arm with a multitude of round holes. I personally think the Bosch rectangular slots, coupled with slow speed...

    LG Front Loader Whining/Squeaks

Could the whining/squeaking be coming from the bearing/shaft seal? I've noticed over the years on different machines, that certain detergents might cause a squeak on one load of laundry, which doesn't always occur on subsequent loads.

Automatic dishwasher detergent that will not dull dishes?

Cascade Rinse Aid According to Walmart's enlarged photos, 'Cascade Power Dry Rinse Aid' does have glass protection technology... This time it is in the form of Zinc Chloride.

Siemens or Schulthess - Opinions wanted

"clothes that stink of wet dog" Ah, I wonder whether that would be the Lipase enzyme? I read before in an online document, that if there is too much Lipase enzyme in the formulation, it can cause the garments to reek of wet dog. The Lipase enzyme apparently continues to work during the drying...

Automatic dishwasher detergent that will not dull dishes?

Regarding P&G 'Cascade'... Apparently the Cascade Gel liquid detergents might have either Zinc Carbonate or Zinc Sulphate. Some of the ingredient data sheets seem to be 'lost in space'. Surprisingly, the Actionpacs appear not to have glass protection. And the Rinse-aid formulation listing is...

Automatic dishwasher detergent that will not dull dishes?

You need Zinc Acetate... To slow the damage to glassware and crockery, you require 'sacrificial zinc' to be in the detergent, or the rinse aid, or preferably, both. Regarding Finish USA, it is surprising that the listed top Finish Quantum Ultimate pod is apparently not equipped with such a...

Miele W1 WXR 860 WCS Frustrations

I've had a look at all the EU data sheets, and I can only find a maximum of six enzymes in some of the detergents. The 'sensitive' and 'sports' have less than that. I had a look at Miele USA and Miele Canada... and they seem to treat these consumers as not worthy of suitable product ingredient...

Now for and LG Dishwasher question.

"...is a dishwasher detergent by Henjek." Not quite, it is made by Henkel. Anyway, these modern sensor machines adapt to the load, based on what the machine experienced previously, and what the sensors are telling it now. Perhaps you need to clean the filters?

    Prewash

Reply #20: Ariel The original Ariel was in a packet with blue emblem, and was a high-sudsing enzyme powder for twin-tubs, and suitable for use in the likes of the original slanted Hoover Keymatic, and Hotpoint agitator top-loaders. When my mum got her Hoover automatic in 1980, the only two...

    Haier HDP18PA

Yes, I'm getting walloping great whiffs of Bosch from the control panel, but Indesit/Hotpoint/Ariston from the interior. In fact, the triangular filter looks straight out of my mum's old Hotpoint FDW20. But in your's, I suggest that the filters might be incorrectly fitted... see the pics...

Bosch vs AEG - Which one would you choose?

I think some of the mid-range BSH machines come from Poland. And I dare say that only the top end machines will be assembled in Germany. As for AEG, these days, I equate them as being merely Zanussi in disguise. Electrolux as a brand, has managed to disappear from the general marketplace, as...

Are BSH machines inefficient or the others just very efficient?

BSH My mum's Bosch Series 4, I think it is, washes quite well, with moderate water levels. I've tried running it on Cottons @ 60°C with Time Saver activated, and it seems by touch, to get close to the stated temperature. I have reservations about AEG and their previous shenanigans. I remember...

Miele W1 WXR 860 WCS Frustrations

Reply #32 Yes, green or blue, or even amber is fine. My current Slovenian Panasonic has large blue icons and digits. Very clear to see. The previous Panasonic had a white backlit LCD screen, with black digits, if I remember rightly, and a ring of red LEDs around the programme dial. That...

Miele W1 WXR 860 WCS Frustrations

Reply #30, Siemens Do they have a blue, or is it white, display? Bosch machines are red digits - and nigh on impossible to read clearly with failing eyesight. I don't know why some manufacturers can't grasp that fact.
