    Lucky escape for us all!

Thanks for all the comments, views and discussion about heaters. Having been a washing machine repair guy here in the UK I can say that heaters were/are extremely reliable things, I can’t actually remember replacing one to be honest. I have seen quite a few melted pumps and blackend control...

    Lucky escape for us all!

But, it has been a really good washing machine up until now I fitted it 15 years ago and it's not needed a single repair and has been abused by numerous tenants over the years. I was only saying to my husband the other day that at the very least we should plan to change it or I will need to...

    Lucky escape for us all!

Lucky for us... ... the heater had melted the rubber door seal, allowed water out and put out the smouldering heater and tripped the electrics

    Lucky escape for us all!

We had a message from our tenants recently to say there was a burning smell when they came back home and they had traced it back the washing machine. When I went round to investigate first bad sign was this...

    Indesit dishwasher

Update Hi everyone I went to the villa in Sitges and it was like a time capsule, it had been closed up for ten years and was more or less left with everything still inside, old betamax and VHS videos, stereo systems, full to the top of things of the past. I only had a couple of hours there so...

    Indesit dishwasher

The brochure I had a few of these to repair in my time and yes they are very noisy! No wheels on the the bottom basket and a central tube to the spray arm under the top basket. They didn't work very well as I recall, but I wonder if it would be better now with some modern tablets? Here's some...

    Indesit dishwasher

A friend of ours is buying a villa 10 minute drive from Sitges/Spain and last week when he was showing us some pictures of it here in the UK I just couldn't believe what was still in the kitchen, an old (probably 1980) Indesit dishwasher. He's going to completely renovate the place, but I asked...

    Philips Appliance Brochure Late 1970s

And the precursory dishwasher brochure I don't believe these dishwashers ever had blue knobs, these I think are the very early ones on to the market from Philips. The 2000 doesn't have a soap dispenser or a water softener.

    Philips Appliance Brochure Late 1970s

Thank you for posting this brochure Al, this is my all time favourite one out of all my collection. I loved the design back then, the blue knobs changing to orange I thought was great upgrade. My Mum had a blue knob Slimstar for many years after the Servis Mk72 died. The great thing about it...

    French in laws

I’ve only seen the hob once, many years ago, so apologies I can’t remember if it’s gas or electric, but as Louis says it is part of the machine, it was built that way. Jean Noel’s father had the wooden top made to cover the hob, for when they didn’t use it, but I’ve never seen it off to be...

    French in laws

Forgot to mention This dishwasher has a hob on the top. The in laws have covered it up but here’s a picture. Many thanks Tomturbomatic for your good wishes. Regards, Alan
