A friend of ours is buying a villa 10 minute drive from Sitges/Spain and last week when he was showing us some pictures of it here in the UK I just couldn't believe what was still in the kitchen, an old (probably 1980) Indesit dishwasher. He's going to completely renovate the place, but I asked him not to throw this away yet and I would ask if anyone is interested in having it? He gets the keys in two weeks time and actually I'll be going there a day or two after and can take some more photos of the inside and share. He doesn't want anything for it, no idea if it works but you would need to collect from the Villa. Please email me if you would like to know more.

Cheers, Alan

Oh yes, I remember those. One of the most affordable dishwashers back then. Not very efficient and not very silent. 60 liters for the longest program IIRC. And like 120dB when it's running. lol

I think it's from the seventies, perhaps even from the late sixties, not sure though. I never saw one in an appliance shop here but it was in some catalogues.

OMG

We had that model after the previous one had no water softener or detergent dispenser this one lasted years until it was replaced by a Zanussi around 1991 now that was a hurricane in a box which is not surprising as the motor if I recall correctly was huge ..

The brochure

I had a few of these to repair in my time and yes they are very noisy! No wheels on the the bottom basket and a central tube to the spray arm under the top basket. They didn't work very well as I recall, but I wonder if it would be better now with some modern tablets? Here's some pictures from a brochure I have.

When I'm there in a couple of weeks I will post more ;-)

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Cheers, Alan

Update

Hi everyone

I went to the villa in Sitges and it was like a time capsule, it had been closed up for ten years and was more or less left with everything still inside, old betamax and VHS videos, stereo systems, full to the top of things of the past. I only had a couple of hours there so couldn't do as much as I wanted to with the dishwasher, but did manage to plug it in. The water valve hummed but no water came in. The drain pump didn't run and tipping it on its side the shaft was very stiff. I didn't manage to get the timer to advance either. My gut feel is that it did work, just been sat for too long. I so wish it was in UK as I would love to get it up and running again. Its fate unfortuantley doesn't look the best as my friend has returned home and handed the keys to a builder to gut and refurbish the place. I'm still trying to ask a few friends who live in Spain to save it, so you never know. Whilst going through some drawers I found the bill and the instructions and it was purchased in 1975! Here's some photos, hope you enjoy.

Regards, Alan

I remember

it has a pause while heating and when it was up to temp it would start the wash pump and the steam used to blow out the vent with such ferocity if you stood in front of it you could feel the heat. Great dishwashers but so noisy we used to shut the door to the kitchen or you had to turn the volume up on tv !!
