Can a Flair range be saved...no matter what??????

By all means I plan to drop by that hardware store and pick up a few more packages of it just to have on hand. It is becoming scarce around here although I'm sure I could still find it online if I tried. I did come to realize after using it in the C50, that from now on I will adhere to the...

Can a Flair range be saved...no matter what??????

Stan, you were right... ....DipIt cleaned the pot! I was really surprised. I thought it might take a bit out BUT it cleaned the pot beautifully. It sure made a believer out of me. The pot now makes a very fine, robust cup of coffee. Now of course, it won't be used as a daily driver with the...

Can a Flair range be saved...no matter what??????

I took a chance on this C-50 and I do think I lucked out. It runs super. However, the bottom pot has a few coffee stains in it that I have tried repeatedly to remove with vinegar and baking soda. I have met with no success although I remove a bit with each treatment. I just found DipIt in a...

Can a Flair range be saved...no matter what??????

Started to think..... ....that just maybe I was beginning to carry my fascination with the 50s and 60s a little too far until I recently saw a segment on just that on TLC. It gave me a real shot (of renewed enthusism and gusto) in the arm NOW I just might be well on my way to becoming the male...

    Fractured bakelite on Sunbeam

Norgeway ...Thanks for your suggestion. If I fail tomorrow, that is a very good way to go. I'm just blown away that the paint can be matched up. I always thought that those painted Sunbeams were in a category all their own. Well. after reading what you and Kelly say, I have a totally different...

    Fractured bakelite on Sunbeam

another shot.... ....of the mixer showing left side in which the only outstanding blemish/scuff mark (just above the "Mixmaster" emblem) can be seen. Oh and missing the speed dial which was also shattered. It's a wonder it works at all!

    Fractured bakelite on Sunbeam

Kelly.... .....Thanks for your thoughts about that base. Would it help if I heated the bakelite first? I will try just what you say this weekend when Chris is here to lend me a little moral support AND an extra hand. ((--:: Those bowls look fantastic AND exactly the same shade as the mixer...

    Fractured bakelite on Sunbeam

I'm asking if anyone has any idea/s as to how I would attempt to "snap" this portion of the bakelite base on this Sunbeam mixer back into place without causing further fracturing. I have already tried with my thumbs to push it back into place but it won't budge and because I didn't want to cause...

Wanted this pic to be different.... ...like Al said--just the thing (50s pastel sheets) for those old washers of yours. I wanted to picture these being pulled down an around by one of those big old roto swirls but am excited at their arrival so a group shot of them all in their original pastic...

Can a Flair range be saved...no matter what??????

I've been quite busy the last couple of weeks to ensure that the house is festive and happy for the 2011 holidays. Last year the holidays weren't all that they usually are so this year I'm making up for last year's loss. The tree is live and will be planted when I finally decide to take all the...
