Fractured bakelite on Sunbeam

I'm asking if anyone has any idea/s as to how I would attempt to "snap" this portion of the bakelite base on this Sunbeam mixer back into place without causing further fracturing. I have already tried with my thumbs to push it back into place but it won't budge and because I didn't want to cause further damage I thought I would ask all of you. If I can accomplish that, I plan to run a bit of strong glue around the fracture and my thinking is that it will then be strong enough to hold a mixing bowl with batter. The mixer is a keeper (have wanted an aqua one for years) even tho' both aqual bowls are shattered, the beaters are bent and the speed dial completely gone. Seems to be my luch lately. Even the melmac arrived smashed. I'm going to take a long break from buying online. Can't believe the carelessness out there.

Any thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Your best bet, would be to find a white base and paint it to match your machine,They are fairly easy to find, and just about any good paint store can match the color.

I have a color match although its been through some cold I can't garauntee its still good. It will at the very least give you the code for paint color to cover any flea bites on the mixer, stand and turn table. You can also paint glass bowls and then cure them in a 200 degree oven over night. The bakelite is brittle but it's worth a try with nothing to lose. I would place the base on a solid surface with something under the bearing assembly and then tap on the broken piece with a rubber mallet in the hopes it will pop back in. Once in place nearly any glue like super glue or Gorilla glue applied from the bottom and allowed to seep into the breakage should hold it secure. If all else fails, I have a black base I can send you. The first UPS care package was returned and reshipped yesterday. I included your phone number as all address recognition programs refused to accept your address. I also learned its about half the cost to mail so if it fails again or if you need a replacement base I'll mail it to the PO box. The bowls in the picture are white painted turquoise.

.....Thanks for your thoughts about that base. Would it help if I heated the bakelite first? I will try just what you say this weekend when Chris is here to lend me a little moral support AND an extra hand. ((--::
Those bowls look fantastic AND exactly the same shade as the mixer. Just learnt from your message bowls can be painted! Wow! That's wonderful. Yes, by all means I'm interested in finding out more about that paint as the turntable is in dire need of some help. The rest of the mixer and the stand and base are in quite decent shape however with a nick or blemish here and there. Just hope the paint is available in California as their rules have become so stringent that a lot of paint and epoxy products have been outlawed.

....of the mixer showing left side in which the only outstanding blemish/scuff mark (just above the "Mixmaster" emblem) can be seen. Oh and missing the speed dial which was also shattered. It's a wonder it works at all!

...Thanks for your suggestion. If I fail tomorrow, that is a very good way to go. I'm just blown away that the paint can be matched up. I always thought that those painted Sunbeams were in a category all their own. Well. after reading what you and Kelly say, I have a totally different slant on them.
