Jeff, thanks for the quick response! APP has a video of changing this seal. While the dishwasher they change it on is much newer, the valve setup looks identical to our vintage unit. Must have been a good, reliable design if they are still using it today. Parts ordered and on the way...

We had water in our dishwasher for several days to swell the seals in preparation for a running leak check. No static leaks were noted. But during the running test, we found a leak at the shaft for the flapper valve that controls whether the pump output goes to the sprayers or to the drain...

We put some warm water inside and were getting some dripping. We haven’t been able to isolate the source yet, but it is in the general area of the motor/pump unit. We’d like to have a service manual to help, but the one in the manuals section starts in 1967 yet ours is a 1964. How likely is...

John L., Are you saying you think the dishwasher isn’t any good? We will definitely test it out to check for any problems. I would imagine that many parts would be difficult to impossible to find.

Thanks to all for the info. I’m going to give the water heater wrap a try first as it has the foil paper already on it and very similar to the original that came off the dishwasher.

Took the glass out to clean that and the face panel. The damp cloth snagged the end of the of the needle and bent it. Can it safely be bent back into place?

We got a bit overly aggressive cleaning the control panel on a GE JC16Y oven and bent the temperature indicating needle. Any advice on how to fix this error and maintain proper calibration?

We’re getting ready to install our 1964 GE dishwasher soon. The majority of the yellow fiberglass insulation that was wrapped over top and sides of the tub was missing. We cleaned off the rest, but now I want to replace it with something that will also deaden sound; any recommendations?
