The Very Best Combo Ever In History!!

This is fascinating information especially to a newbie. Was it just Avco's stronghold on the combo patents or FL's in general.? Nowadays you can barely tell the difference between a WP, Maytag, LG, Smsung FL? Have patent laws relaxed over the years? I now understand the scarcity of these...

The Very Best Combo Ever In History!!

Did the Duomatics have a suspension system or did they also get bolted down? Does anyone know of patent numbers for any combos to be found on Free Patents?

The Very Best Combo Ever In History!!

Thank you Tomturbomatic, you really know your stuff. Isn't true that many of the new FL's of today come in washer dryer combos? I know the LG does. The engineers of the vintage machines were very creative in their designs and how they overcame unbalanced loads amd clothes "sticking" and all...

    Vintage Parnall Wringer Washer

Very cool machine. I am in the states so obviously it's a no go for me. The description says it's " a spinner." Does the inner tub actually spin out the clothes or does it just use the wringer? Could you provide some information on these machines?

The Very Best Combo Ever In History!!

TomTurbomatic: I did do the search and did find some helpful information, mostly posted by yourself. Amazing engineering technology for that era and all done mechanically and electrically (and pneumatically in KM/WP design). No wonder they were so heavy. The speed shifting operation with the...

The Very Best Combo Ever In History!!

I have heard from other members about the operating system of the WP combos. Could someone possibly post a diagram or info explaining the operation, especially the pneumatic air system and speed shifting. Thanks, Kevin

I'm Expecting 56 Year Old Twins Twins

Congratulations on your amazing find. Would you mind telling me how much it did cost you to ship them and what means you used? I've been steering away from looking in other states out of the NYC, Pennsylvania, northeast area because of the shipping situation. Maybe I should think otherwise...

Breathing life into my latest find... Thanks to AW!

I never realized the "throaty, gurgling sound" during wash was the pump. Our Norge time line did the same thing and I loved it. Did the later Maytags, 45s or 140s (not up on my MT history but I think these #'s are correct) also use the inner and outer spin tubs bolted together?

    Hunting tips

Hi John: Just how far is Beltsville from the DE border? I have relatives in Newark DE who I visit every 5 or 6 weeks. What is the best way for us to contact each other, neither of us have our e-mails listed. Yesterday I responded to a Craigslist ad , listed on AW on the 4th for a 1950's...

    MAYTAG AMP Design

Hi All, Hope we are all doing well. I was reading over the service manual for the 1950 AMP washers and found out something I never knew; the perf porcelain basket is actually "screwed" to an outer solid spin tub. It has a deep "drain" tub, which I also didn't expect, I thought it would be like...

    Bendix Economat

Thanks Robert: I will be axiously waiting. Where and how did you get not one but three of those machines? I don't seem to be in the right place at any time! I just have to keep trying. BTW, do you do anything to the rubber tubs to keep them soft and pliable, I imagine them stiffening up over...
